Darlene Byford Spokane
Memorial service for Darlene Byford, 65, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Church in Post Falls. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Byford, who died Saturday, was born in Anaconda, Mont.
She was a 33-year Spokane resident, a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Church.
Her husband, Charles, died in 1997.
Mrs. Byford is survived by three sons, Randy, Darrell and Jack Easley, all of Spokane; five brothers, Lester, Howard, Robert, Merle and Kenneth Stone, all of Anaconda; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Coeur d’Alene and Roslie VanderZawan of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Frances Jacoby Pasco
Service for Frances Louise (Evans) Jacoby, 79, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset View Baptist Church in Pasco. Burial will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick. Mueller’s Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jacoby, a former Spokane resident, died Tuesday.
She was born in Breckenridge, Mo., and moved to Spokane in 1935.
She married Clarence Jacoby in 1943.
Mrs. Jacoby owned and operated Lilac City Beauty Salon for many years and later worked in retail sales at Lubins.
Mrs. Jacoby moved to Pasco in 1991.
Her husband died last May.
Survivors include two daughters, Melinda Pomerinke and Denise Jacoby; two sisters, Mildred Fackenthall of Deer Park and Ruby Dicken of Gresham, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
Bertha Clark Spokane
Service for Bertha J. Clark, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 49-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Clark died Tuesday. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho.
She worked as an assistant cook for the Mead School District for many years. She also worked at Self-Service Furniture and Holy Family Hospital.
She was a member of Greenacres Baptist Church.
Her husband, Donald Clark, died in 1979.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Clark of Spokane, Kenneth Clark of Kent, Wash., and Lavern Clark of San Antonio; a daughter, Gloria Williams of Liberty Lake; a sister, Donna Allen of Nampa, Idaho; and 11 grandchildren.
Janna (Swanson) Gellhause Spokane
Memorial service for Janna (Swanson) Gellhause, 52, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Fourth Memorial Church. Private burial was at Pines Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Gellhause died Monday.
She was born in Spokane and graduated from University High School in 1965.
She worked as a claims adjuster for All State Insurance and retired in 1997.
Mrs. Gellhause was a member of Valley Fourth Memorial Church.
Survivors include two sons, Eric and Jason Gellhause, both of Spokane; two brothers, Craig Swanson of Spokane and Larry Swanson of Seattle; and a grandson.

Mary Calais Veradale
Funeral Mass for Mary A. Calais, 58, was Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Pines Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Calais, who died Tuesday, was born in New Orleans, La.
She was a 13-year Spokane resident and worked for 12 years as a special education teacher.
Mrs. Calais was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, John; two sons, John Calais III of Veradale and Keith Calais of Bothell, Wash.; a daughter, Stephanie Noble of Veradale; three brothers, Edward, Terrace and Gilbert Rieth, all of New Orleans; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Dorothy (Shell) Henley Hay, Wash.
Service for Dorothy Jeanette (Shell) Henley will be at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in LaCrosse, Wash. Burial will follow at Hay Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Henley, who was 100, died Wednesday.
She was born in Ashville, N.C. and moved to the Hay area at the age of 14.
In 1918 she married John Henley. They farmed in the Hay area for several years. She also raised canaries.
She was a member of Hay Baptist Church and the Ladies Aid Society.
Her husband died in 1991.
Mrs. Henley is survived by three sons, Frank Henley of Newport, Wash., John Henley Jr. of Hay and Donald Henley of Oregon; two daughters, Grace Rudolph of Pasco and Berda Endsley-Boggs of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Moyle Cuthbertson of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Kellian of Hickory and Hazel of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Ervin Stritzke Elk
Memorial service for Ervin John Stritzke is planned for 2 p.m. today at the Lazy Acorn Ranch in Elk. A potluck reception will follow. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stritzke, who was 67, died Saturday.
He was born in Slope County, N.D. His family moved to Oregon when he was a child.
Mr. Stritzke graduated from Roseburg (Ore.) High School. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954.
He graduated with a master’s degree from Washington State University and for 23 years he taught vocational agriculture in the Washington cities of Ephrata, Riverside, Colfax and Lake Stevens. He retired in 1982.
In 1990 he moved to Elk.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; three daughters, Shann Broeckel of LaCrosse, Wash., Sharla Stritzke of Everett and Jina Stritzke of Winston, Ore.; four brothers, E.G. Stritzke of Caldwell, Idaho, and Robert, Richard and Edward Stritzke, all of Oregon; four sisters, Lorraine Horn, Mary Ann Burk and Martha Graham, all of Oregon, and Jodie Linnel of Anchorage, Alaska; and six grandchildren.
Harley Milner Osburn, Idaho
Memorial service for Harley N. Milner, 81, will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethany Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in Wenatchee. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Milner, who was born in Roseau County, Minn., died Wednesday.
He lived in Wenatchee and worked as a plumber for 36 years before retiring. He then worked as manager at Pace Manor Mobile Home Park in Wenatchee for 15 years.
Mr. Milner moved to Osburn in 1994 and was a member of Plumbers Union Local 32. He also volunteered at the Hospitality House in Wenatchee.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Viola “Vi”; four sons, Wesley Milner of Three Forks, Mont., Charles Milner of Spokane, John Milner of Juliaetta, Idaho, and Robert Milner of Kingston, Idaho; a sister, Sarah Fisk of East Wenatchee; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Herbert Hudson Post Falls
No service will be held for Herbert William Hudson, 84, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hudson, who was born in Sheridan, Mont., died Wednesday.
He grew up in Dayton, Wash., and in 1939 married Eunice Cook. They lived in the Spokane Valley and moved to Post Falls in 1947.
Mr. Hudson worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Mead for 31 years and retired in 1977.
He was a member of the Nazarene Church and the National Rifle Association. He also participated in fly tying with the North Idaho Fly Casters.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Hudson of Pennsylvania and James Hudson of Post Falls; three daughters, Thelma Larsen of Colorado, Celia Peterson of Coeur d’Alene and Suzanne Durbin of Twin Lakes, Idaho; two brothers, Chester Hudson of California and David Hudson of Oregon; two sisters, Phyllis Rose of Kennewick and Ethel Bailey of Centralia, Wash.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Gary Maggard Spokane
Graveside service for Gary M. Maggard, 81, is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Maggard died Monday.
He was a supervisor for Pack River Lumber Co. and also trained and owned racehorses for 31 years.
Mr. Maggard was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Kiwanis Club, Washington Horse Breeders Association and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Posse.
His wife, Darlene, died in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheri Maggard of the Lake Tahoe area in Nevada and Marcie Martin of Anchorage, Alaska; three brothers, Wayne Maggard of Spokane and Patrick and Don Maggard, both of Veradale; five sisters, Joyce Morin of Spokane, Grace Nolting of Medical Lake, Marie Taylor of Des Moines, Wash., Sandra Bertholf of Snohomish, Wash., and Wanda Golab of Kensington, Conn.; numerous grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Roy Landfried Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Roy G. Landfried, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Fairfield, Mr. Landfried died Wednesday.
He served in the Army during World War II. In 1945 he married Abina Carey. They lived in Fairfield.
Mr. Landfried moved to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1949 and worked for Kaiser Aluminum.
He was a charter member of St. Pius Catholic Church and a member of the Coeur d’Alene Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His wife died in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Landfried of Seattle; a daughter, Deirdre Eldredge of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Ruth Hopkins of Elk; and two grandchildren.
Tim Lozar Moses Lake
Memorial service for Tim V. Lozar, 58, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Lozar died Wednesday. He was born in Long Beach, Calif., and moved to Spokane as a child.
He served in the Army and worked in road construction in Spokane for several years.
Mr. Lozar moved to Moses Lake in 1977.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Locals 370 and 302.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Judy; a son, Clinton Lozar of Moses Lake; two daughters, Lorna Winona of Soap Lake, Wash. and Lois Kamstra of Quincy, Wash.; a brother, Jack Lozar; three sisters, Edna and Barb Ralph, and Bev Berry; and four grandchildren.
Wesley Green Davenport, Wash.
Memorial service for Wesley H. Green will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport.
Mr. Green, who died Thursday, was born in Davenport. He was 83.
In 1941 he married Ida Holland.
Mr. Green worked at a sawmill in Lincoln, Wash., for several years, driving logging and lumber trucks for Crown Zellerbach.
In 1987 he moved back to Davenport.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Wesley Green and Jessie Polston, both of Spokane, Joan McCrea of Fruitland, Wash., and Joy Baumgarden of Deep Creek; a brother, Dale Green of Curlew, Wash.; three sisters, Edna Reitmeir of Cheney, Allene Green of Davenport and Faye Hurske of Mercer Island, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

George Leitheiser Spokane
Service for George W. Leitheiser, 85, was Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park.
A 45-year Spokane resident, Mr. Leitheiser died Sept. 6. He was born in Detroit Lake, Minn.
He worked as a laborer in the construction industry for several years.
Mr. Leitheiser was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Otis Orchards.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lillian; a son, Randy Leitheiser of Spokane; a daughter, Julie Heid of Spokane; a brother, Raymond Leitheiser of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Florence Carlin of Renton, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
