Columbia Hanford Reach

Conservationists are inviting supporters of preserving the wildest section of the Columbia River in the United States to join a float trip on the 51-mile free-flowing stretch called the Hanford Reach.

The stretch along the Hanford nuclear Reservation is the last major fall chinook salmon spawning area on the entire Columbia River.

Organizers of Save the Reach are asking a $50 donation for a guided flotilla tour by canoe or kayak on Saturday. The group is raising money to stave off proposals for development that threatens the river.
