Recent Poll Says Initiative 695 Support Is Slipping

Recent polls on Initiative 695 seem to have something for both sides to cheer.

A poll released Monday suggests support for the proposal is slipping. It seems to bolster another poll that was released late last week, but contradicts a third poll released on Sept. 14.

When The Elway Poll contacted 400 voters around the state last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, it found 52 percent said they plan to vote for the ballot measure, 32 percent plan to vote against and 16 percent are undecided.

Support is down from a poll conducted by the firm in August, H. Stuart Elway said Monday. Opposition remained constant, but more people reported they were undecided.

That’s similar to results released by Moore Information, which surveyed 500 voters the previous week, and concluded that 50 percent support the initiative, 38 percent oppose it, and 11 percent were undecided.

But a poll conducted at roughly the same time as the Moore survey, for KOMO-TV in Seattle, listed support at 67 percent, opposition at 30 percent, and the undecided vote at 3 percent.
