Permits Key Success

The elk hunters coming out of the blues with smiles on their faces each fall are almost surely to be special permit holders.

The tag holders have a broader range of elk to shoot than the general tag holders, who are limited to shooting only spike bulls.

The statistics tell why the permit holders will be smiling.

Last year, archers scored 27 percent if they had a special permit and 4 percent if they didn’t.

Modern firearms hunters scored 68 percent if they had a special permit and 3 percent if they didn’t.
