Accident Victim Improves
A woman hit by a car in downtown Spokane on Sunday was been upgraded from critical to serious but stable condition on Wednesday, according to Spokane Police.
The 34-year-old woman sustained multiple fractures and internal injuries when she was hit near Madison and Second about 6:40 p.m.
The victim was trying to walk across Second when she was hit by a westbound Ford Escort and thrown 35 feet, police said.
The driver, 18-year-old Olivia Lucille Herbst, told police she was blinded by the setting sun.
Police are awaiting tests on a blood sample before deciding whether to file charges. Herbst has no driver’s license or insurance, police said.
