Unicom Corp., parent of Commonweath Edison Co., is merging with PECO Energy Co. of Pennsylvania in an $8.2 billion deal that would create the nation’s largest electric utility. The new company under the deal announced today will also be one of the nation’s largest nuclear power generators.
Hawaiian Airlines said it will spend more than $430 million to replace its entire fleet of 15 inter-island aircraft beginning in February 2001. The company has agreed to buy 13 Boeing 717-200 airplanes at a cost exceeding $430 million.
