Guitar legend Jimi Hendrix will be the focus of a memorial to be built in Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Wash. The acid-blues artist’s family unveiled drawings of the memorial at Friday’s groundbreaking. The granite dome will be supported by nine pillars covering a life size statue of Hendrix at the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival. The opening of the memorial will coincide with the 30th anniversary of Hendrix’s 1970 death in London.
