Lois Fisher Hope, Idaho
Memorial service for Lois Helen Fisher, 92, will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fisher, who was born in Plainview, Minn., died Sunday.
She moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, in 1917 and attended high school there. She moved to Porthill, Idaho, in 1927.
Mrs. Fisher received a teaching certificate from Lewiston Normal School and taught in Porthill until returning to Lewiston Normal School for further education.
She taught in Elk River, Idaho, before marrying Robert Fisher in 1932. The couple lived in Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Spokane before settling in Coulee Dam in 1942.
Mrs. Fisher had served on the Coulee Dam School Board and enrolled in correspondence courses toward a baccalaureate degree before moving to Bridgeport, Wash., in 1955, where she taught elementary school.
She received her baccalaureate degree from Central Washington State College in 1962 and began summer courses to complete her fifth-year requirement.
Mrs. Fisher retired in 1971, and moved to Hope and was active with the Sandpoint Art Association and St. Agnes Episcopal Church.
She was also past worthy matron of the Grand Coulee Dam Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, and held leadership roles in Delta Kappa Gamma teaching honorary society, the Wendlemere Dock Association, and had served as an election judge and precinct committee chairman.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Ferol Senter of Texas, and Lynn Rodda of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren, Robert, Valerie, Paula, Kabrena, Anne and Katherine; and two great-grandchildren.

Ila Imbler Spokane
Graveside service for Ila N. Imbler, 97, will be at 1 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Imbler, who was born in Minneapolis, died Tuesday.
Her family moved to Whitman County when she was a child and she graduated from Sprague (Wash.) High School.
During the 1950s she worked in housekeeping for student halls at Washington State University and also was a homemaker.
Mrs. Imbler moved to Spokane six years ago.
She was a member of Lamont (Wash.) Community Church.
Her husband of 38 years, John, died in 1959.
Survivors include six daughters, Alberta Frederick of Valleyford, Darlene Lincoln of Elk, Virginia and Benna Lindsay, both of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Eva Sherer of Albany, Ore., and May Corley of Orange Park, Fla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty Bender Spokane
Burial for Betty Ann Bender, 69, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Pines Cemetery. Sunset Vista Funeral Home in Yuma, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bender, who was born in Turtle Lake, N.D., died March 8 while wintering in Yuma.
She graduated from high school in Wallace and in 1949 moved to Spokane.
She worked as a meat wrapper in the meat department at Safeway.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Glenn Sr.; two daughters, Debra Christensen and Brenda Gage, both of Spokane; a son, Glenn Bender Jr. of Plummer, Idaho; three brothers, Jessie and Gordon Spaulding, both of Spokane, and Don Spaulding; and five grandchildren.
Irma Costello Spokane
Memorial service for Irma L. Costello, 79, will be at 1 p.m. today in the Cardinal Bea Hall at St. Michaels Chapel, 1107 N. Astor. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Costello, who was born in Edmonton, Alberta, died March 24.
She was a 25-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband, Thomas, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Costello of Nine Mile Falls; a daughter, Jo Ann Hart of Spokane; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Spokane or the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Lucile Carter Rathdrum, Idaho
Memorial service for Ida Lucile Carter, 88, will be today at 10 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel.
Mrs. Carter, who was born in Hollywood, Calif., died Tuesday.
She grew up and graduated from high school in North Hollywood and moved to Rathdrum in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carter, in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Sandifur of Big Bear, Calif.; a daughter, Joanne Sandifur of Rathdrum; a stepdaughter, Lori Patterson of Salem, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Charles Miller Deer Park
Memorial service for Charles E. Miller, 81, will be at 1 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miller, who was born in Secane, Pa., died March 24.
He graduated from Horace Mann High School in Bayonne, N.J.
Mr. Miller joined the Army in 1942 and transferred to the Army Air Corps. He served as a gunner on a B-24 crew in the 716th Bomb Squardron of the 449th Bomb Group. He was discharged in 1945.
After the military he attended the American Theatre Wing and sang with the Robert Shaw Chorale for five years.
He married Ruth Lane in 1952.
Mr. Miller received an associate of arts degree from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He and his family moved to Spokane in 1959.
Mr. Miller worked at Culler-Gale Architects and received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University.
In 1960 he was asked by the Spokane Technical School of District 81 to design and teach an architectural drafting course. He also taught at Spokane Community College and Fort Wright College before retiring in 1981. In 1995 he and his wife moved to Deer Park.
He was a member of the Spokane Symphony Chorale, First Presbyterian Church and choir, Manito Lions Club and the Senior Gold Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles Miller of Spokane; and a sister, Anna Evans of Hackettstorn, N.J.
Margaret Rapp Spokane
Memorial service for Margaret G. Rapp, 82, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rapp, who was born in Gloucester, Mass., died Thursday.
She was a 28-year Spokane resident.
Mrs. Rapp graduated from high school in Gloucester in 1924 and later graduated from nursing school in Lynn, Mass. She served as a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1945 to 1946.
In 1947 Mrs. Rapp moved to St. Maries, where she worked as a registered nurse until the early 1950s. She moved to Spokane in 1972 and worked as the resident manager at Riverfalls Towers from 1974 to 1994.
Mrs. Rapp was a member of the Spokane Club.
Survivors include three children, Darcy Brown of Spokane, Gregory Rapp of St. Maries and Tracey Rapp of Portland; and seven grandchildren.
Joyce Lindsay Spokane
Memorial service for Joyce M. Lindsay, 93, will be at 11 a.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Private graveside service was held at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Cando, N.D., Miss Lindsay died Feb. 6.
She moved to Spokane in 1944.
Miss Lindsay was a volunteer for the Civil Defense Corps in Spokane during World War II.
She later worked as a clerk for a drugstore in downtown Spokane for more than 30 years.
Survivors include a brother, Gerald Lindsay of Naniamo, British Columbia; and three sisters, Evelyn Wetzel of Kent, Ohio, Lois Burge of Calgary, Alberta, and Faye Simpson of New Westminster, British Columbia.
Ethel Stephenson Spokane
Service for Ethel Stephenson, 88, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Chattaroy Cemetery.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Stephenson died last Saturday.
She graduated from North Central High School.
Mrs. Stephenson worked for The Crescent department store and later in the packaging department at the Carnation Dairy for more than 22 years.
She was a member of the Early Bird Club.
Her husband, Floyd, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Remington, and a brother, Evan Vensel of Spokane.
Betty Hubbard Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Betty L. Hubbard, 71, will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene First Christian Church. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hubbard, who was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., died Thursday.
She grew up on the family homestead in Scottsbluff, and in 1949 married Dean Hubbard. They later moved to Arvada, Colo., and operated a jewelry store there until selling the business and moving to North Idaho in 1977.
Mrs. Hubbard was a crafts artist and a member of Coeur d’Alene First Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sandra Peterson of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Harriet Campanela of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Richard Hubbard of Rathdrum; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Katherine Williams Sandpoint
Private service for Katherine M. Williams, 73, was held. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Williams, who was born in Lamar, Ark., died March 23.
She grew up in Arkansas and in 1948 married Arlie Williams.
She lived in California before settling in the Sandpoint area in 1976.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Woosley of Kootenai, Idaho; two sons, John Williams and Arlie Williams Jr., both of Sandpoint; and five grandchildren.
Mae `Tootie’ Zipfel Colville, Wash.
Service for Mae L. “Tootie” (Johnston) Zipfel, 80, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Republic (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Zipfel, who was born in Fort Morgan, Colo., died Monday.
She graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego, and worked as a clerk in the ship pursers office at the San Diego Naval Base.
In 1944 she married Matthew Zipfel and they moved to Republic. She worked as an office manager for the Public Utilities District.
They moved to Colville in 1988.
Mrs. Zipfel was a member of the Ferry County Grange, the Repulic Rustler Rodeo Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She was also a member of the Ferry County Cattlemens and Fair Associations and the Colville First Congregational Church.
Her husband died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Zipfel of Republic; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
James Henderson Spokane
Service for James A. “Jim” Henderson, 84, will be at 1 p.m. today at Audubon Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Henderson died Thursday. He was born in Cheney.
He married Clara Sharp in 1942.
Mr. Henderson served in the Army during World War II in Africa and Europe.
He worked as a mechanic with Hull-Rodell Motors in Spokane, which later became the Bill Brown Chrysler Plymouth Dealership. He retired as a master mechanic.
Mr. Henderson was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a charter member of the International Association of Machinists Union.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Henderson, and a daughter, Sharon Fancher, both of Spokane; a sister, Ellen Smith of Bremerton; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
