Classical Guitarists Playing At Whitworth

Three of the region’s finest classical guitarists will give evening recitals tonight through Saturday as part of the Northwest Guitar Festival at Whitworth College.

John Goulart, an award-winning Canadian guitarist, will perform solo and with soprano Karen Minish tonight. David Feingold, professor of guitar at Western Washington University, offers original compositions as well as a jazz collaboration with guitarist Bruce Clausen on Friday. Saturday’s recital features Alexander Dunn, professor of guitar at the University of Victoria in British Columbia.

All performances begin at 8 p.m. in Whitworth’s Music Building. Tickets are $15, available at the door.

In other events, 19 student guitarists will participate in the semifinals of the Guitar Northwest Competition today at 12:30 p.m., with four finalists advancing to the finals Saturday at 4 p.m. Tickets for both competitions are $10.
