New Home Under Way For Integral Designs

Mountain gear manufacturer Integral Designs is getting a new home in the Spokane Valley.

Brian Abrams, president of the company, said he hopes to move Integral Designs’ office and production plant into a new building on North Eden, west of Barker Road, in July.

Right now, the company shuffles between two locations - one in the Spokane Business and Industrial Park and another at the original factory several blocks away. But the new 15,000-square-foot building will house the entire operation, Abrams said.

Integral Designs has been designing and producing high-end gear for mountaineers and the military from its Spokane factory for about eight years. The licensed Gore-Tex manufacturer has filled orders for Recreational Equipment, Inc., catalog giant L.L.Bean and many others, while rolling out its own line of high-tech gear.

Abrams is adding 10 new employees by the end of June, bringing the total Integral Designs workforce to about 40 people.

The growing business will erect an addition to the new building as soon as it’s needed and the 2-acre site could accommodate future expansion, Abrams said.

Construction of the initial building is expected to cost $650,000.

Integral Designs also is considering a retail outlet for its gear in the near future, perhaps a small store in a mall.

“We’re giving it some real serious thought,” Abrams said.

Integral Designs products are only available now in Spokane at Fitness Fanatics, 12425 E. Trent Ave., which carries gear for more performanceminded adventurers.
