Eleanor Lamb Harrison Flats, Idaho

Memorial service for Eleanor “Ellie” Lamb, 86, will be at 11 a.m. April 15 at the Harrison City Park in Harrison, Idaho. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Pomeroy, Wash., Mrs.

Lamb died March 11.

She graduated from high school in Pomeroy in 1929 and then attended Kinman Business College before moving to Kellogg where she worked as a bank teller at Weber State Bank.

In 1935 she married Bill Lamb. They bought a ranch in Bell Canyon near Harrison Flats in 1946. She was a civil defense aircraft spotter until 1961 when she took an office job at Russell Lumber Co. in Springston, Idaho.

Mrs. Lamb later worked in St. Maries and Coeur d’Alene before retiring in 1975.

She opened Lamb’s Corral antique and secondhand shop in 1968, which she operated until 1992 when she sold the business.

She had served on the Kootenai County Library Board, Kootenai School District Board of Trustees and the Harrison Old Timers Picnic Committee.

Mrs. Lamb was a member of the Harrison Grange, Order of Eastern Star, the Harrison Senior Citizens, and was known as a historian of early-day Harrison.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Tom Lamb, and a daughter, Angela Wilson, both of Harrison; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Irene (Oien) Lynch Centralia, Wash.

Memorial service for Irene A.C. (Oien) Lynch, 87, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Spokane. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Potlatch, Idaho, Mrs. Lynch died April 1.

In 1930 she married John Lynch. They moved to Spokane in 1943.

She was a nurses aide in the health care industry.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and served on the church council.

Mrs. Lynch moved to Centralia a few years ago.

Her husband died in 1979.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph Lynch of Post Falls, Jerry Lynch of Chehalis, Wash., Donald Lynch of Prescott, Ariz., and Gene Lynch of Lompoc, Calif.; a brother, Peter Oien of Spokane; three sisters, Myrtle Hansen and Thelma Harms, both of Spokane, and Judith Gissel of Sandpoint; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Albertine (Reisenauer) Scharbach Colton, Wash.

Funeral Mass for Albertine (Reisenauer) Scharbach, a longtime Colton resident, is planned for 10:30 a.m. today at St. Gall Roman Catholic Church in Colton. Burial will follow at St. Gall Catholic Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Scharbach, 87, died Tuesday.

After graduating from high school in Colton, she worked as a nanny in Moscow, Idaho.

In 1936 she married George Scharbach.

Mrs. Scharbach was a homemaker and a member of St. Gall Catholic Church and Altar Society.

In 1991 she moved to the Palouse Hills Nursing Center in Pullman.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cheryl Richards of Spokane and Joan Bauer of Uniontown, Wash.; a son, Dan Scharbach of Portland; two brothers, Edmund and Mark Reisenauer, both of Colton; two sisters, Rose Delores of Spokane and Bernadine Greiser of Genesee, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Gall Endowment Fund, Colton, WA 99113.

Clarence Strand Coeur d’Alene

Service for Clarence O. Strand, 92, will be at 1 p.m. today at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home with burial to take place at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Strand, who was born in Lake Preston, S.D., died Wednesday.

He moved to Oldtown, Idaho, in 1936 and to Coeur d’Alene in 1961. He worked at Diamond International Co., retiring in 1972.

He was a wood craftsman, hunter and fisherman.

His wife, Gladys, died in 1982.

Survivors include a daughter, Vera Panotta of Spokane; a son, Garey Strand of Post Falls; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Eddie Binder Spokane

Memorial service for Eddie J. Binder, 77, is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Binder, who was born in Westmont, Idaho, died Monday.

His family moved to Spokane when he was an infant.

He served in the Army Air Corps as a flight officer and lieutenant during World War II. He later served in the Reserves.

Mr. Binder worked in the engineering department at Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood for 34 years and retired in 1985.

He served as a chief grievance officer for the Teamsters Union Local 4027. He was also a member of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Club.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Della; two sons, Pat Binder of Usk, Wash., and Mike Binder of Champaign, Ill.; three daughters, Bev Baker, Jeanne Chambers and Naomi Rhodes, all of Spokane; a brother, Leo Binder of Weippe, Idaho; two sisters, Mary Vallette of Pahrump, Nev., and Marie Russell of Buena Park, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Patricia Conger Hannon Spokane

Memorial service for for Patricia Dale Conger Hannon, 74, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Eagles Lodge. The Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

A 27-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Conger Hannon died March 31. She was born in San Diego.

In 1991 she graduated from Spokane Falls Community College. Mrs. Hannon was a homemaker and volunteered as a County Home Extension officer, a 4-H leader, a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother.

She was also involved in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and in Rotary International and received the Paul Harris Award.

Her first husband, William Conger, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of three years, James; a daughter, Martha Conger of Vallejo, Calif.; a son, William Conger of Colbert; a sister, Susan Graham of Redding, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Conger Memorial Scholarship for Youth Exchange in care of Washington Trust Bank.

Victoria Warner Spokane

Private memorial service will be held for K. Victoria Warner, 96. Inurnment will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in La Center, Wash., Mrs. Warner died March 15.

She graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma.

Mrs. Warner moved to Spokane in 1936 and was a homemaker.

Her husband of 68 years, Roy, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, John Warner of Spokane; a sister, Adeline Meyer of Vancouver, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dishman Hills Natural Area.

Elva Madison Post Falls

Memorial service for Elva Madison, 92, will be held at a later date. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Madison, who was born in Lind, Wash., died Wednesday.

She grew up in Lind and married Glen Madison in 1926. They moved to Spokane in 1929 and to Post Falls in the early 1930s. They lived in the Pleasantview area for 58 years.

Mrs. Madison was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church, Pleasantview Ladies Club, the Pleasantview School Association, and was an active gardener, and tatting and embroidery artist.

Her husband died in 1988.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lou McCallum of Libby, Mont., Arlene Kartak of Orlando, Fla., and Nancy Madison of Post Falls; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Jean Jeffries Spokane

Memorial service for Jean E. Jeffries, 65, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Valley Alliance Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jeffries, who was born in Portland, died March 28.

She was a 55-year Spokane resident and worked as a bookkeeper in the health care industry. She was a member of the Valley Alliance Church.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Billie; a daughter, Jodi Palmen of Spokane; four sons, Ronald, Scott and Ryan Jeffries, all of Spokane, and Donald Jeffries of Rockford; and 10 grandchildren.

Darlene (Cleveland) Lauderbaugh Vancouver, Wash.

Memorial service for Darlene Kay (Cleveland) Lauderbaugh, 63, was Tuesday at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle.

Born in Post Falls, Mrs. Lauderbaugh died March 27.

After graduating from Northwest Christian High School in Spokane in 1954, she attended Oak Hills Bible College in Bemidji, Minn., and Spokane Falls Community College.

She married Stanley Lauderbaugh in 1956 in Spokane. They divorced in 1975.

Mrs. Lauderbaugh taught language arts to fifth- and sixth-graders at Hamblen Park Elementary School from 1973 to 1975. She then worked as an office supervisor for the music department at Whitworth College from 1975 to 1977. From 1964 to 1974 she was involved in various volunteer activities including the YMCA and adult training in the Presbyterian church.

She later moved to Guam where she work for a personnel agency and to The Dalles, Ore., where she worked as an administrative assistant for the area Agency on Aging. She also lived in Seattle and worked for an insurance agency in Bellevue, Wash., and for personnel agencies in Seattle and Bellevue. She served as a house director for the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at the University of Washington. She also lived in Portland where she worked for a personnel agency.

Eleven years ago she moved to Costa Rica and was an elementary teacher at Christian Elementary School. She also worked for the Roblealto Child Care Association and Escazu Christian Fellowship as a ministry coordinator. Most recently she worked for the Latin American Missions.

Mrs. Lauderbaugh recently moved to Vancouver.

She was a member of the Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church in Spokane and University Presbyterian Church in Seattle.

Survivors include two sons, Jon Lauderbaugh of Vancouver and Jann Lauderbaugh of Seattle; a daughter, Jayne Calkins of Aloha, Ore.; two sisters, Mardella Mitchell of Cheney and Lonia Boettcher of Bothell, Wash.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Merriam Afseth Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Merriam L. Curtis Afseth, 87, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.

Mrs. Afseth, who was born in Minneapolis, died Wednesday.

She grew up and attended school in North Dakota and then attended a boarding school and graduated from high school in Bismarck, N.D.

Mrs. Afseth then worked as a bookkeeper in California and Iowa before settling in Stanley, N.D., where she married Elmer Afseth in 1941.

They lived in Tioga, N.D., and operated a bank until moving to Columbia Falls, Mont., in 1944 where they purchased Park Drug.

The moved to Minnesota in 1950 and bought a theater and then moved to Bonners Ferry in 1956 and owned the Rex Theater until 1963.

She also owned The Fabric Shop in Bonners Ferry and briefly operated a Wards catalog store. They later operated theaters in Montana, Metaline Falls, Wash., and Chewelah, Wash., before returning to Boundary County and settling in the Naples area in 1974.

In 1992 she moved to Bonners Ferry. She played the piano and organ and was a seamstress and crocheted and did needlepoint.

Mrs. Afseth was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include a daughter, Jill Robinson of Bonners Ferry; and six grandchildren.

Marie `Nanou’ Youngblut Spokane

Funeral Mass for Marie Antoinette P. “Nanou” Youngblut, 76, was Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Born in Avignon, France, Mrs. Youngblut died Sunday.

She was a 54-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Joseph; and a son, Bernie Youngblut of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert Phillips Spokane

Service for Robert G. “Bob” Phillips, 48, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Phillips, who was born in Richland, died Sunday.

His family moved to Spokane when he was an infant.

He was an electrician for LRS Electric Controls. He had also worked for Baker Pump and Electric in Valleyford.

Survivors include his father, Larry Phillips of Spokane; and four sisters, Diane Anderson and Theresa Phillips, both of Spokane, Melodie Cooper of Declo, Idaho, and Pamela Harper of John Day, Ore.
