The Chase Is On

The centuries-old English sport of fox hunting may be more popular in the United States now than at any other time since its heyday in the Colonial era. Across North America, there are 177 hunt clubs in 35 states and four Canadian provinces, up from 153 clubs in 1994, according to the Masters of Fox Hounds Association of America, which regulates hunts in North America. Virginia is the leader with 24 hunt clubs. The number of full-time riders remains small, about 20,000, but many others have tried the sport.
