It’s back to normal on rural Spokane County roads. All weight and speed restrictions will be lifted this morning. Over 100 miles of rural roads had been restricted around the county since mid-February to prevent break-up and potholes. All vehicles had to slow down to 35 mph and trucks had to cut their loads anywhere from 10-50 percent over normal levels. While all restrictions will be lifted immediately, it will take county road crews several days to remove all the signs.

The local school district has declared Panorama Alternative School as surplus. The district may own the building, but the lease is up on the community, college-owned land it sits on. The school cannot afford to move the building - an 11-unit modular with a leaky roof and insulation problems. Despite the closure of the site, the alternative education program will live on. It will be integrated back onto the Colville High School site with its current staff, where the school feels money will be saved without hurting the program.
