Ruth (Bankson) Cory Spokane
Ruth Cory celebrates her 100th birthday today. She was born Ruth Pauline Bankson in 1900 in Keokuk, Iowa. She married Charles B. Wilson in 1920; he died eight years later. In 1936, she married Glenn Cory, who died in 1975.
Cory moved to Spokane in 1977 to be near her daughter, the late Marylyn Wilsey.
When she was 68 years old, Cory began oil painting and now has enough paintings to fill an art gallery, said her son, Earle Wilsey, Spokane. Her longevity, she said, comes from living a clean, healthy lifestyle.
She is also the mother of Judy Cory, Milwaukee, Wis., and has 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
