Irving `Buzz’ Busby Spokane
Service for Irving “Buzz” Busby, 68, will be at 1 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Busby, who died Wednesday, was born in Selfridge, N.D.
He was a Spokane resident for 64 years and was a firefighter with the Spokane Valley Fire Department. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Busby was a member of the Valley Eagles Lodge No. 3433 and a the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jean; a daughter, Lezlie Busby of Seattle; a son, Eric Busby of Louisiana; two sisters, Linda Busby of Tacoma and Cindy Busby of Hawaii; and a brother, Wayne Busby of Spokane.

Daniel Smiley Spokane
Service for Daniel P. Smiley, 76, will be 1 p.m. today at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smiley, who born in Bovill, Idaho, died Saturday.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was a Spokane resident for 35 years and was a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
His wife, Louise, died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Bond of Chattaroy, Wash.; a sister, Helen Ball of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Therese Williams Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Therese M. Williams, 68, will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mrs. Williams, who was born in Alberta, died Friday.
She grew up in Alberta and moved to Yakima at the age of 17. She worked in the hospitality industry.
In the early 1970s she moved to Seattle and became an agent for Farmers Insurance Group. She settled in Coeur d’Alene in 1974.
She opened a ceramics business in Coeur d’Alene and marketed her own line of porcelain dolls, Lady T.W. Dolls.
She was a member of the Yakima and Coeur d’Alene Veterans of Foreign Wars posts auxiliaries and was active in fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Bert Williams of Lewiston; two sons, Guy Simmons of St. James, Jamaica, and Jim Daniles of Renton, Wash.; two daughters, Cherie Neff of Eatonville, Wash., and Joanie Harrison of Mukilteo, Wash.; three brothers, Raymond, Larry, and Emile Ricard; two sisters, Alba Bourbonnaise and Aline Pare; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Geraldine `Jeri’ Rinderneck Spokane
Memorial service for Geraldine “Jeri” Rinderneck, 67, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd-South Funeral Home.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Rinderneck died Friday.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1951.
Mrs. Rinderneck was a nurses aide at Deaconess Hospital for 25 years.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick and Randy Rinderneck, both of Spokane; two sisters, Delores Lundberg of Spokane and Leatrice Iserman of Waverly, Iowa; a brother, Robert Davidson of Shawnee, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
Evelyn `Lorraine’ Pittman Spokane
Service for Evelyn “Lorraine” Pittman, 84, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hunters, Wash.
Mrs. Pittman, who was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, died Saturday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474 Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Survivors include four daughters, Rusella Evans and Doreen Biem, both of Spokane, Rosalind Gibson of Springdale, Wash., and Evelyn Neumann of Chehalis, Wash.; a son, Arthur Caudill of Montana; a sister, Jackie Toal of Sacramento, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Hubert `Sonny’ Chavers Jr. Coeur d’Alene
A private gathering for Hubert Chavers, aka Robert M. “Sonny” Chavers, 55, will be held later. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chavers, who was born in Richmond, Calif., died Wednesday.
He lived in California and was an accomplished guitar and steel guitar musician. He had worked as a certified welder, a highway flagger, auto mechanic and auto painter and detailer.
Mr. Chavers moved to North Idaho three years ago and lived in Spirit Lake before moving to Coeur d’Alene.
He was a member of a country-western band and was active in outdoor recreation.
Survivors include his fiancee, Cathleen Morrison of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Jennifer Chavers and Shelly Bradley, both of California; three sisters, May Lee of Spirit Lake, Wilma Price of Maryland and Mary Clark of California; two brothers, Vester Chavers of Oklahoma and William Chavers of Spokane; and one grandson, Jared.

Jack Fleming Reardan
Visitation for Jack J. Fleming, 76, will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reardan Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Fleming, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.
He was a graduate of Reardan High School.
Mr. Fleming served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He was a farmer in Reardan and was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Lions Club, the American Legion and Spring Creek Grange. He also was a member of the Westerners Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Viola; a son, Fred Fleming of Reardan; two daughters, Nancy Bevan of Spokane and Sally Fleming of Nine Mile Falls; a sister, Ann Currie of Mill Creek, Wash.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Muriel Kiehn Ritzville, Wash.
Visitation for Muriel L. Kiehn, 69, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Everett, Mrs. Kiehn died Wednesday.
She graduated from high school in Mukilteo, Wash.
Mrs. Kiehn worked as a legal secretary in Odessa, Wash., before marrying her husband, Corky, in 1968. They moved to Ritzville, where she also worked as a legal secretary.
She was a member of the the Ritzville Grandmothers Club and the Odessa Quilting Club, and was a volunteer at Ritzville Hospital and Medical Clinic.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kandi Asker of Spokane; two sons, Ric Thompson of Medical Lake and Kevin Kiehn of Ritzville; two brothers, Ralph Blackmore of Everett and William Blackmore of Klamath Falls, Ore.; three sisters, Bertha Barr of Bellevue, Wash., Joyce Gard of Odessa, and Eileen Petterson of Redding, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ken Scott Spokane
Memorial service for Ken C. Scott, 66, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Scott, who was born in San Francisco, died Thursday.
He was the former owner of Spokane Acoustics.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Glenda; two daughters, Kerri Olson of Liberty Lake and Kennedy Scott Riefflin of Redmond, Wash.; a son, Chris Scott of Spokane; a brother, Don Scott of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Wendy Scott of San Francisco; and five grandchildren.

Verne `Jack’ Pearson Spokane
Visitation for Verne “Jack” Pearson, 72, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Pearson, who was born in Elk River, Idaho, died Friday. He was a 60-year Spokane resident.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Pearson worked as a first miller for Nabisco/Centennial Mills Co. for 18 years. He retired in 1987.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lillian; two sons, Dan Pearson of Spokane and Gary Pearson of Deer Park; two daughters, Linda Belton of Spokane and Nancy Chase of Federal Way, Wash.; his mother, Iota Gecewicz of Colorado; a sister, Cleo Pearson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Carlander Spokane
Vigil for Dorothy M. Carlander, 83, will be at 7:30 p.m. today at HennesseySmith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Colbert. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A 52-year resident of Spokane, Mrs. Carlander was born in Chehalis, Wash. She died Friday.
Mrs. Carlander was a homemaker and was a member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church for 30 years. She also was a member of the Jane Jefferson Club, the Democratic party, and the Precinct Committee of Persons in the Valley and for the third legislative district for 25 years. She also was a representative for the American Association of Retired Persons.
Her husband, Claude, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Carlander of Spokane and Rick Carlander of Seattle; three daughters, Jane Grubb, Sally Robinson and Kathleen McSpadden, all of Spokane; two brothers, Claude and Howard Shaffer; three sisters, Margaret Knight, Evelyn Maly and Edna Gardner; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
