Paul Staley Receives Army Commendation

Army Spc. Paul J. Staley, a gunner assigned to the 9th Infantry at Camp Casey, Tongduchon-Up, South Korea, has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal, which is awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties.

Staley is the son of Kurt and Wanda Staley, Ritzville, Wash.

Staley graduated from Spokane Falls Community College High School Program in 1995.

Six U.S. Air Force airmen have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio:

Taylor A. Castonguay, a 1999 graduate of University High School, is the son of Paul and Nancy Cosby, Spokane.

Brandon R. Fuqua is the son of Laura Steele, Airway Heights, and a 1999 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

Michael R. Johnston, son of Byron Johnston and Daisy Johnston, both of Spokane, is a 1995 graduate of Rogers High School.

David P. Masten is the son of William and Debbie Masten, Spokane. He graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1998.

Angela L. Tate, a 1998 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the daughter of Clarence and Izola Tate, Spokane.

Christopher L. Tillotson, son of Ben and Elaine Tillotson, Spokane, is a 1995 graduate of Universal Technical Institute, Phoenix. His wife, Dinna, is the daughter of Tinna Hagman, Spokane.

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Brandon Hardenbrook has been named assistant brigade training and operations officer at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Previously he was an executive officer on the Army’s first theater high-altitude area missile defense system.

Hardenbrook is a graduate of Ferris High School and Pacific Lutheran University.

Army Reserve Pvt. Derek T. de Haas has graduated from petroleum supply specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

De Haas is the son of Herbert and Robyn de Haas, Veradale, and a 1999 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Army National Guard Pfc. Franklin J. Bryant and Sgt. Dell M. Lowry-Schiller has graduated from the satellite and wideband communications equipment apprentice course at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga.

Bryant, son of Frank and Arlene Bryant, Medical Lake, is a 1998 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

Lowry-Schiller is the son of Nancy Schiller, Spokane, and a 1986 graduate of North Central High School. He received associate degrees from Spokane Community College in 1989 and 1994.

Army Pvt. Dan L. Woodgerd has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Woodgerd is the son of Mark Woodgerd, Spokane, and Cathy Woodgerd, Laurel, Mont.
