Couple Sentenced For Trafficking Meth
A Spirit Lake couple was sentenced Wednesday for trafficking methamphetamine.
First District Judge James Judd sentenced Elberteen Pearson-Anderson, 30, to eight years in prison, five of which are fixed and three of which are indeterminate.
A jury found Pearson-Anderson guilty of the crime last month. Her husband, Gerald Anderson, 37, pleaded guilty to the same charge.
Judd sentenced him to seven years in prison, five of which are fixed and two of which are indeterminate.
Pearson-Anderson received a longer sentence because of two previous felonies, Kootenai County deputy prosecutor Jim Reierson said.
Both were fined $25,000.
A state law that went into effect in July requires a mandatory five-year prison sentence and a $25,000 fine for the crime.
