Music, Comedy Top Benefit Show

Local bands Feeling Nero and Delbert, along with performer Doug Dawson, will lend their talents to a benefit concert Saturday for Spokane’s animal protection agency.

Spokanimal C.A.R.E is a nonprofit organization that protects, rescues and places animals in homes. The agency also runs educational programs that teach children how to treat animals with respect.

About 700 animals pass through Spokanimal’s doors each month.

Combining Celtic, country, jazz, blues and folk, Feeling Nero describes its style as “edgy art rock.”

Spokane band Delbert blends offbeat lyrics with a bleating horn section for a swing-rock sound.

Doug Dawson will open the show. Dawson mixes comedy with singing and guitar and keyboard playing.

About 90 percent of the proceeds from the show will go to Spokanimal, with the rest paying for the venue and other costs.

“We just hope people come and support the cause and have a great time,” says Liza Bailey, Feeling Nero bassist and event organizer.
