Area Students Receive UI Achievement Awards

North Idaho students at the University of Idaho received high honors at the UI Student Achievement Awards in a leadership and service ceremony held April 8.

The winners and their awards are listed by hometown.

Nordman: Buck Samuel, microbiology and molecular biology/biochemistry, George E. Dafoe Memorial Award, Outstanding Junior Silver Lance Award. Samuel also is a recipient of a $200 Dean Vettrus Scholarship.

The Dafoe award is presented annually to at least one student who has served in the Associated Students of University of Idaho.

Silver Lance recognizes men and women who have demonstrated leadership experience.

Outstanding Sophomore Spurs Award

Sophomores who have demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and academic achievement received the Outstanding Sophomore Spurs Award.

Honored students are listed: Coeur d’Alene: Colleen Frei, forest resources/natural resources ecology. Frei also is a recipient of a $100 Dean Vettrus Scholarship.

Moscow: Holly Davidson, political science.

Sandpoint: Barton Cochran, accounting/visual communication.

Outstanding Freshman Valkyries Award

Freshmen who have demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and academic achievement and who are committed to serving the university and community received the Outstanding Freshman Valkyries Award.

The award recpients are listed:

Post Falls: Kelly Greenfield, international studies. Greenfield also received a $100 Dean Vettrus Scholarship.

Rathdrum: Matthew Corsi, fisheries resources.

Troy: Kimberly Wilson, information systems.
