Milo Creek Project Now Fully Funded
Thanks to a $1.85 million grant announced this week by Sen. Larry Craig, the Milo Creek flood control project is fully funded, to the relief of managers.
“This is good news,” said project manager Glenn Jackson.
Craig, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, was notified Thursday of his successful request for an Economic Development Initiative Special Project Grant.
Milo Creek runs under the communities of Kellogg and Wardner. Flooding in 1997 blew out the channel that contained the water, flooding yards with sewage and heavy metals.
The federal grant is the second announced for Milo Creek work this year. The Idaho Legislature awarded a $1.5 million grant in January. State Bureau of Disaster Services officials have told Jackson they can cover the remaining $200,000 the project requires, he said.
