‘Simpsons’ Too Violent
Welcome to Springdale, the home of everyone’s favorite TV family, the Simpsons. There is Homer, the hard-working father; Marge, the mother with big, blue hair; Bart, the trouble-making son; Lisa the perfect daughter; and Maggie the adorable baby.
“The Simpsons” usually consists of Bart pulling pranks, Krusty the Clown being tormented, Homer overeating and Scratchy killing Itchy.
Many people find the show to be funny but I find it to be demoralizing and lacking of worthy content and comedy. Funny is not supposed to be a cartoon mouse cutting off a cat’s head or a boy sticking cherry bombs down a toilet.
When young children and teens watch the show they get the impression violent behavior is OK and looked upon as funny. The truth is TV needs to be conscious of the effect it has and needs to be making shows that are funny but not violent.
There have been some episodes of “The Simpsons” that have had little violence and a lot of comedy. That kind of show can make me laugh.
“The Simpsons” needs to eliminate the violence. But the change will only come if people watching the show are willing to make the change.
