Eva (Zenner) Welle Uniontown, Wash.

Funeral Mass for Eva (Zenner) Welle, 85, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Welle, a lifetime Uniontown resident, died Thursday.

She graduated from Holy Names Academy in Spokane.

In 1936 she married Lawrence Welle, and they farmed near Uniontown until retiring in 1970. They then moved into town and owned and operated Twin Willows Museum and Antique Store. They also built and operated the mobile home park and laundromat.

Her husband died in 1981.

In 1985 she married Derl Hallenbeak. He died in 1998.

She was a a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include five daughters, Laurie McCune of Spokane, Connie Ehresman of Kennewick, Maureen Martin of Clarkston, Wash., Diane Newman of Renton, Wash., and Marilyn Grosfield of Big Timber, Mont.; five brothers, Andrew Zenner of Genesee, Idaho, Joe Zenner of Craigmont, Idaho, Peter Zenner of Nezperce, Idaho, Paul Zenner of Lewiston and Harold Zenner of Culdesac, Idaho; three sisters, Lucille Guettinger of Pullman, Pauline Hermann of Genesee and Marie Fox of Bremerton; 14 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and one step-great-greatgrandson.

Eyob Meyer Rathdrum, Idaho

Memorial service for Eyob J. Meyer, 8, will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church with a reception to follow at the church. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Eyob, who was born in Ethiopia, died Thursday from injuries received in a farming accident near Rathdrum.

In 1997, Eyob and his sister Samra were adopted by Lisa Meyer, and they lived in Rathdrum, where he attended Garwood Elementary School.

Eyob loved America, baseball and academics and wanted to someday serve as this country’s first black president.

Survivors include his mother and sister, Lisa and Samra; grandparents, Dick and Helen Meyer of Hayden, Idaho; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Patricia Poston Spokane

Graveside service for Patricia Ann (Rector) Poston, 70, will be at noon today at Riverside Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 38-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Poston died Friday. She was born in Potlatch, Idaho.

She received an associate of arts degree from North Idaho College and a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in counseling from Gonzaga University.

Mrs. Poston was a school teacher and retired from the Freeman School District in 1992.

After retiring she volunteered at the Spokane Valley Senior Center.

Her husband, James, died in 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene and Michael Troy, both of Spokane; a grandson and a stepgranddaughter.

Hazel Thiebes Spokane

Memorial service for Hazel L. Thiebes, 86, was held Monday at the Rockwood Lane Retirement Apartments. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thiebes, born in Lind, Wash., died Wednesday.

Her family moved to Spokane when she was an infant.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Spokane Club and the Manito Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bernhard Lang Jr. and Joseph Thiebes Sr.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Robin Schnuit of Seabeck, Wash., and Heather Lang of Bellingham; and one great-grandchild.

Edward Fugle Sandpoint

Memorial service for Edward W. Fugle, 75, will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Mr. Fugle, who was born in Santa Monica, Calif., died Thursday.

He served with the Navy as a signal man during World War II. He later worked as an executive with Safeway Stores in California and Granny Goose Foods in Hawaii, before settling in Sandpoint for more than 25 years.

Mr. Fugle was a supervisor for the Independent Highway District in Bonner County for more than 10 years.

He served as a member, deacon and councilman at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint and was active with the local adult literacy program.

Survivors include four children, Jennifer Leedy of Sandpoint, Margy Ortiz of Kailua, Hawaii, and Nani Fugle and Jared Sparks, both of California; a brother, James Fugle of California; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Katie Gage Sagle, Idaho

Service for Katie Marie Gage, 15, was held Monday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Burial followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Katie, who was born in Sidney, Mont., died Wednesday from injuries suffered in an automobile/train accident near Algoma, Idaho.

She moved to Sagle with her family in 1987 and attended Bonner County schools.

Active in horse 4-H, Katie worked with high-spirited horses and was noted for her special way with animals.

Survivors include her parents, Jim and Kari Gage of Sagle; four sisters, Jacki, Abbie and Randi, all of Sagle, and Dani Shaffer of Sandpoint; and her grandparents, Jack and Betty Gage of Sagle, and Stub and Esther Verwolf of Dover, Idaho.

Emma (Saxon) Reuter Spokane

Private service will be held for Emma M. (Saxon) Reuter, 85. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Reuter, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.

Her family moved away and returned to Spokane when she was two years old.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1930 and from Cheney Normal School in 1934.

Mrs. Reuter taught at Finch Elementary School for 27 years and also taught at Westview Elementary School until she retired in 1972.

She was a charter member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Iris Society and the Retired Teachers Association.

Her husband of 56 years, Clarence, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, William Reuter, and a daughter, Catherine Stohs, both of Spokane; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Warren Jud Spokane

Service for Warren Jud, 80, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Jud, who was born in Zurich, Switzerland, died Thursday.

He served in the Army during World War II and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Jud worked for Spokane Appliance Repair and retired in 1982 as manager.

He was a 57-year Spokane resident and a member of the American Rifle Association and Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty; two daughters, Peggy Sullivan of Spokane and Sharon Bellinghausen of Lakewood, Wash.; a son, Terrance Jud of Spokane; a brother, Andy Jud of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Lorraine Olson of Medford, Ore., and Helen and Nellie Smith, both of Bowling Green, Ky.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Joyce Spalding Ione, Wash.

Graveside inurnment for Joyce Louise Spalding, 67, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riverside Cemetery in Ione. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Ione resident, Miss Spalding died Thursday from leukemia.

She graduated from Ione High School in 1953.

Miss Spalding worked in a lumber mill and later worked as a bartender and cook at the Boots-N-Saddle Tavern in Ione for more than 18 years.

She is survived by two brothers, Jerry and Tom Spalding, both of Ione; and a sister, Corrinne Buoy of Colbert, Wash.

Benny Toland St. Maries

Visitation for Benny L. Toland, 85, will be today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.

Mr. Toland, who was born in Gifford, Wash., died Saturday.

He grew up and attended schools in Belmont and Garfield, Wash. He married Ruby Kendall in 1932 and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.

In 1934 he moved to Sanders, Idaho, and raised livestock and worked in several logging camps.

He later moved to St. Maries and began a career with the Idaho Department of Lands in 1972 and retired in 1980.

Mr. Toland was a member of the St. Maries Elks and Eagles lodges. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years; a son, Leonard Toland of Santa, Idaho; two sisters, Velma Toland of Tacoma and Julia Freeburg of Malaga, Wash.; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Donna Ryan Spokane

Memorial service for Donna Jean (Glenn) Ryan, 57, was held Monday. Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A 34-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Ryan died Thursday. She was born in Miles City, Mont.

She graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1986.

Mrs. Ryan was a baton and dance instructor for more than 25 years.

Survivors include three sons, Rick and Ron Ryan, both of Kirkland, Wash., and Robert Ryan of Chicago; a daughter, Rolanda Webb of Spokane; four brothers, Charles and Kenny Glenn, both of Spokane, Marvin Glenn of Pensacola, Fla., and Thomas Glenn of Montana; three sisters, Virginia Wachsmith of Spokane, Lame Deer of Montana and Delores Trejso of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Hazel Heisner Spokane

No service will be held for Hazel B. (Beveridge) Heisner, 86, at her request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 51-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Heisner died Saturday. She was born in Burlington, Colo.

She received her nursing degree in Denver and worked as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital for 25 years. She also worked at Holy Family Hospital and as the director of nursing at various nursing homes in the Spokane area. She retired at the age of 70.

Her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Oscar Harrison of Mead.

Hubert Reed Colville, Wash.

Graveside service for Hubert B. Reed, 85, was held Monday at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reed, who was born in Great Falls, Mont., died Thursday.

He was a longtime resident of the Colville, Kettle Falls and Ione, Wash., area.

Mr. Reed worked as a logger.

His wife, Jeanette, died in 1971.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Urhausen of Kettle Falls and Hazel Curtiss of Yakima; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bertha Zink Spokane

Service for Bertha C. Zink, 98, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Private burial will be at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.

Born in Denver, Mrs. Zink died Friday.

She received a degree in home economics from Colorado State University in 1924 and taught school in rural Colorado.

She was a 33-year Spokane resident and had been a resident of Holman Gardens since it opened in 1984.

Mrs. Zink was a member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, Omicron Nu Home Economics Sorority and the Phi Kappa Delta Debating Society.

Her husband, Glenn, died in 1976.

Survivors include a son, Steve Zink of Spokane; a brother, Brad Crawford of California; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
