Gene Hewett Spokane
Service for Gene C. Hewett, 68, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Born in Clarkston, Wash., Mr. Hewett died Thursday.
He graduated from Clarkston High School in 1949 and served with the Navy during the Korean War.
Shortly after marrying Jane Lock in 1955, they moved to Spokane.
Mr. Hewett worked for The Spokesman-Review for 35 years, first as an outside classified sales representative and later as a retail and display advertising representative. In 1976 he was promoted to management. He retired in 1991.
His wife died in 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Dagmar; three sons, Randy Hewett of Spokane, Tad Hewett of Grapevine, Texas, and Tom Hewett of Southlake, Texas; seven daughters, Naomi Erdman, Marilyn Neumann, Rena Wing, Brenda Overdorf and Vivian Hagel, all of Spokane, Patricia Blair of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Lucinda Aheimer of Valdosta, Ga.; a sister, Joy Montgomery of Seaside, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lola McCauley Olympia
Graveside inurnment for Lola Lavena McCauley, 85, will be at 11 a.m. today at Olympic Memorial Gardens in Tumwater, Wash. Olympic Funeral Home in Tumwater is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Froid, Mont., Mrs. McCauley died July 26.
She graduated from Froid High School in 1932 and received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education at Manchester College in North Manchester, Ind.
Mrs. McCauley taught for seven years in the Montana Public Schools before moving to Rockford in 1943.
She taught high school home economics in Rockford for four years.
In 1944 she married Lawrence McCauley and became a homemaker. They moved to Spokane in 1986 and spent their winters in Mesa, Ariz., until 1996 when they moved to Olympia.
Mrs. McCauley was a member of the Women’s Club and Garden Club in Rockford and the Spokane Toastmistress Club. She was also a member of the Mesa Branch of the American Association of University Women, the Mesa Women’s Club and the Rio Salada Toastmistress Club in Tempe, Ariz.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lynda McCauley of Olympia; and a sister, Alice Snellman of Oroville, Calif.

Evelyn Evey Spokane
Visitation for Evelyn Evey, 93, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Evey, who was born in Chinook, Mont., died Tuesday.
She was a 40-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Mrs. Evey was a life master of the American Contract Bridge League. She was a member of the Burlington Northern Ladies Nine Hole Golf League, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star and Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
Her husband of 65 years, Clare, died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Stuart Evey, and a daughter, Evonne Miller, both of Spokane; a sister, Laura Palm, and a brother, Ben McKinnie, both of Chinook; and four grandchildren
Rosalind Volesky Spokane
Funeral Mass for Rosalind A. Volesky, 61, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Volesky died Wednesday. She was born in Edmondton, Alberta.
She worked as a customer service representative in the insurance industry, and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, LeRoy; two sons, Gary Volesky of Fort Benning, Ga., and Stephen Volesky of Morgan City, La.; a daughter, Renee Volesky of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Charles Montalbetti of Oliver, British Columbia; two sisters, Irene Armstrong of Calgary, Alberta, and Elaine Peterson of Richmond, British Columbia; and two grandchildren.

Emma (Stehr) Hawkins Spokane
Graveside service for Emma S. (Stehr) Hawkins, 95, was held Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born in Odessa, Wash., Mrs. Hawkins died Wednesday.
She graduated from North Central High School in 1923 and worked as a new accounts clerk in the banking industry in Spokane.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Order of Eastern Star and Liberty Park United Methodist Church.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise Gustin of Spokane; a brother, Ed Stehr of Odessa; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Aurora, Mo.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Wesley Larson Smelterville, Idaho
Memorial service for Wesley F. Larson, 79, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Larson, who was born in Groton, S.D., died Thursday.
He attended school in Groton, and in 1948 moved to the Silver Valley and worked on the highline for Bunker Hill Mining Co. for 33 years. He retired in 1983.
Mr. Larson married Sophie Engelstad in 1951.
He was a member of the Mine Mill and Smelter Workers Union, United Steelworkers and the Bunker Hill 20-year Club.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years; two sons, Chester Larson of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Bruce Larson of Rosalia, Wash.; two brothers, Virgil Larson of Lewiston and Inar Larson of Pinehurst, Idaho; three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
Danna Giboney Seattle
Service for Danna Jane Giboney, 51, will be at 2 p.m. next Saturday at the Seattle North Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 5701 Eighth Ave N.E. Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of arrangements.
A 19-year Seattle resident, Miss Giboney died July 29.
She was born in Spokane and graduated from University High School.
Miss Giboney worked as a property manager in real estate.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Giboney Conser and Emma Conser Giboney; the children’s father, Tom Conser; her mother, Mrs. Daniel Giboney; two sisters, Carol Giboney and Susan Schultz; and a brother, Daniel Giboney Jr.

Theodore Ehnes Spokane
Memorial graveside service for Theodore J. “Ted” Ehnes, 72, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Peone Prairie Cemetery in Mead. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ehnes, who was born in Wilson, N.D., died Tuesday.
He served in the Air Force from 1945 to 1948.
Mr. Ehnes was a 64-year Spokane resident and worked as a truck driver for Kaiser Aluminum.
His wife, Dolores, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, John Ehnes, a daughter, Linda Ehnes, and a sister, Marjean Meyer, all of Spokane; a brother, Raymond Ehnes of Tacoma; and four grandchildren.
