Obituaries

Robert Bolen Spokane

Service for Robert E. Bolen, 75, will be today at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A 44-year Spokane resident, Mr. Bolen died Thursday. He was born in Colville, Wash.

During World War II he served with the Army Transport Service. He also served as firstmate on the tugboat Barkley.

He worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years and retired in 1982.

Mr. Bolen was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and Eagles Lodge Aerie 2. He received the Golden Age Eagle member award.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty; three sons, James Bolen of Spokane, Greg Bolen of Sandpoint and Gary Bolen of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Robin Austin of Spokane; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Laura (Hilby) Hubenthal Spokane

Private graveside service for Laura May (Hilby) Hubenthal, 102, will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Hubenthal died Wednesday.

She married Edwin Hubenthal in 1921 and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Moran Prairie Grange, Spokane Country Pomona Grange, Washington state and national granges, and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Her husband died in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Lyman and Leland Hubenthal, both of Spokane; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Francis Mann Spokane

Service for Francis Stuart Mann, 68, will be at 12:30 p.m. today at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mann, who was born in Elgin, Ill., died Thursday.

He entered the Air Force in 1951 and served for 21 years, and served as a military advisor at Pleiku in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972.

Mr. Mann moved to Spokane in 1972, and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Clara; two sons, David and Michael Mann; a daughter, Katherine Gideon; a brother, William Mann of Elgin; and three grandchildren.

Gladys (South) Lohman Coeur d’Alene

Service for Gladys Phene (South) Lohman, 73, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Lohman, who was born in McNairy County, Tenn., died Friday.

She was a longtime Coeur d’Alene-area resident and homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; two sons, Terry Dickey of Illinois and Guy McMains of Colorado; three daughters, Nina Dickey of Arizona, Nona Caruso of Ohio and Sandra Johnson of Tennessee; three sisters, Zelphie Gray of Michigan, and Ella Mae Hammons and Dorothy Watson, both of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Lou Green Spokane

Memorial service for Lou Green, 79, will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Green, who was born in Spokane, died July 18.

She graduated from Davenport (Wash.) High School and in 1953 moved back to Spokane.

She was a volunteer and director of the Spokane Air Defense Filter Center. She also was a bus driver for the Cheney School District and a delivery person for the Hart and Dilatush Pharmacy.

Mrs. Green was a member of the Spokane Yacht Club.

Her husband of 54 years, Cecil, died in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Kent Green and Derel Green, both of Spokane; a brother, Lyle Domrese of Spokane; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Janet Anderson Spokane

Memorial service for Janet G. Anderson, 57, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Free Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Anderson, who was born in Santa Monica, Calif., died July 28.

She graduated from Lancaster (Calif.) High School in 1960, and received an associates degree from Antelope Valley Junior College.

She worked in the Lancaster area as a dental assistant for 10 years.

Miss Anderson retired from dental assissting in 1977 and moved to Spokane.

She was a member of First Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Gladys Anderson, her twin sister, June Anderson, and a brother, Gary Anderson, all of Spokane.
