Spokane Man Survives Plane Crash
A small plane flown by a Spokane man flipped over during an attempted emergency landing, coming to rest belly up in a field.
The pilot, Donald Summers, 70, was treated and released after the crash late Sunday. A Federal Aviation Administration official said the plane appeared to be homemade.
The state Highway Patrol said the pilot reported that he was low on fuel and that he was going to attempt an emergency landing about 5:30 p.m. Summers managed to land the single-engine, single-seat plane on a gravel road, but it kept on traveling about 100 feet through a field and flipped over.
