Scc Music Instructor Earns Award For Video

“The Bamboo Muse: Musical Instruments of the Kalinga,” a video documentary developed and produced by Spokane Community College music instructor David Such, received an Award of Distinction in the category of culture in The Videographer Awards.

Such not only wrote the script and musical score but filmed the documentary as well.

Brian Cowley of the Inland Northwest Council, Boy Scouts of America, has completed the professional development series offered by the Center for Professional Development in Texas. This three-course series instructs executives in topics ranging from district operations to problem-solving to marketing and management.

Cowley serves the Chinook and Lincoln Districts, which covers the South Hill, Cheney, Medical Lake, Airway Heights, Fairchild Air Force Base and all of Lincoln County.

Irene R. Berg, Veradale, was elected and installed national registrar for the National Society Daughters of the American Colonists on April 12.

She was organizing regent for the Spokane Falls Chapter and is currently the chapter regent and state treasurer.

Ameri can Medical Response Paramedic, Brad Derting, was honored at a national ceremony on May 9 in Washington, D.C. The American Ambulance Association recognized Derting as a “Star of Life” for the passion and commitment he shows toward his profession.

Derting was chosen for his unique ability to recognize the importance of maintaining a patient’s dignity and for establishing a positive relationship with family members.

Off-duty, he spends many hours participating in bicycle races that raise funds for local and national charitable organizations.
