Park Paddling

Canoeing/kayaking

Heyburn State Park is offering a cool way to beat the summer heat and learn how to canoe and kayak at the same time.

Park staff will be introducing a new water trail, and certified instructors from the Spokane Canoe and Kayak Club plan to offer free paddling lessons on Saturday based in the Benewah Campground.

To encourage paddlers to experiences a new interpretive water trail, Recreational Equipment Inc., is offering prizes for people who paddle to the different stations on the route.

The action starts at 10 a.m. Participants should bring water, lunch and don’t forget the hat and sunscreen.
