Seminars Will Focus On Global Marketing

Companies with global marketing ambitions can pick up pointers on how to avoid cultural missteps during a pair of seminars presented by the Whitworth Graduate School of International Management.

The first of the two sessions, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Room 429 at the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute, 665 N. Riverpoint Blvd. The second session is a week later at the same time and location.

This Wednesday’s seminar will focus on “Understanding Western/Eastern Communication Styles.” The topic next week is “Cross-Cultural Team Building and Negotiating.”

Virginia Whitehouse, a journalist, teacher and East Asian traveler who holds a Ph.D, will lead the sessions.

A seminar for growers, fieldmen and other fruit industry personnel on “World Overview of Important Fruit Nutrition Problems and How They Are Being Addressed” is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort in Penticton, British Columbia. The seminar is part of the The 4th International Symposium on the Mineral Nutrition of Deciduous Fruit Crops. Cost: $30 U.S. for participants from British Columbia and Washington, $45 for others; preregistration is required.
