Three Men Chase, Nab Purse Snatcher

Three men chased, captured and detained a man who had taken a purse from a woman about 8:30 Tuesday morning on North Monroe.

The woman said she was walking at Dalton and Monroe when a man asked her for a cigarette. She began to open her purse when he grabbed her bag and ran.

She said two men immediately began to chase the robber, one on foot and one in a car. A third man also pursued the purse snatcher and helped bring the man back to the scene.

Michael Monroe Baker, 19, was booked into jail on charges of second degree strong-arm robbery. The woman was not injured.
