Americans Name Dragicevic Coach
The Tri-City Americans have hired Milan Dragicevic as the hockey club’s new coach.
Dragicevic replaces Don Hay, who left the organization after two seasons to become head coach of the Calgary Flames.
Dragicevic is a former player and assistant coach with the Americans and also played for Regina, Victoria and Spokane in the WHL.
He served as an assistant coach in Tri-City from 1996 to 1998 and then became head coach of the Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the last two seasons.
He was the AJHL’s coach of the year last season after leading the Thunder to a 37-18-2-6 record.
The Americans have also hired Darcy Bishop as an assistant coach. Bishop spent the last two years in the Calgary Stampeders organization. He was athletic trainer of the Swift Current Broncos from 1995 to 1996 and the Calgary Hitmen from 1996 to 1998.
