Cora Holt Plummer, Idaho
Seven Drum services for Cora Elizabeth Holt, 21, will be held today and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Building in Lapwai, Idaho. Burial will take place Sunday at sunrise at Red Bear Cemetery in Lenore, Idaho. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of local arrangements.
Miss Holt, who was born in Lewiston, died Tuesday.
She attended school in Lapwai and Plummer until graduating from high school in Flandreau, S.D. in 1996. She participated in basketball, volleyball and softball.
She returned to Plummer after high school and recently worked at the High Mountain Steakhouse at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino in Worley, Idaho.
Miss Holt was a member of the Nez Perce Tribe and actively pursued her Native American heritage.
Survivors include her companion, Darryl Trevino, and a son, Damien Trevino, both of Plummer; her mother and stepfather, Yvonne and Alfred Nomee of Plummer; her father, Maynard Holt Sr. of Lapwai; four brothers, Danny Peters of Plummer, Vernon Peters of Tekoa, Wash., and Maynard Holt Jr. and Brian Holt, both of Lapwai; a sister, Marilee Holt of Lapwai; and her grandparents, Jesse and Audrey Redheart of Spalding, Idaho, and Cora Longoria of Toppenish, Wash.
Richard Johnson Spokane
Visitation for Richard H. Johnson, 71, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Madison, Wis., Mr. Johnson died Thursday.
He moved to Spokane in 1947.
Mr. Johnson was a mail carrier for the Postal Service for 36 years. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Mail Carriers.
His wife, Joanne, died in 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Johnson and Andrea Wasson, both of Spokane; a brother, James Johnson of San Diego; three sisters, Karen Fisher of Spokane, Barbara Hill of Beaverton, Ore., and Jeanne Hinz of Triangle, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
David Christopher Koltas Rathdrum, Idaho
Service for David Christopher Koltas, 2 months, will be today at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Christopher was born in Spokane on June 13 to David and Ruth Koltas. He died Tuesday.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Kyle Koltas; and grandparents, Richard and Linda Koltas of Sheffield, Ohio, and Sam and Mary Librande of Hayden, Idaho.
Edwin Akers Otis Orchards
Funeral Mass for Edwin E. Akers, 77, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Otis Orchards. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Decatur, Iowa, Mr. Akers died Tuesday.
He was a 29-year Otis Orchards resident.
Mr. Akers served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945, and was an iron worker for more than 40 years. He was involved in the construction of the Hanford Nuclear Plant, the Spokane Waste Water Treatment Plant, and the Seafirst and AT&T buildings. He was also a farmer and logger.
Mr. Akers was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Otis Orchards. He was involved with the SCOPE program and was named “Volunteer of the Year” in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Wanda; five sons, Ron, Wiley and Gary Clark, all of Spokane, Edwin Akers of Edmonds, Wash., and Frank Clark of Tracey, Calif.; two daughters, Sharon Jones of Otis Orchards and Kathi Evaneski of Mead; a sister, Evaline Adams of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Myra Alt Spokane
Service for Myra H. Alt, 45, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Alt died Aug. 11.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; a son, James Alt; a sister, Mary Davidson; and two brothers, Chuck and Art Murch Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Humane Society.
Edwin Widener Pasco
Service for Edwin Widener, a former longtime Spokane resident, was Thursday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Widener, 80, died Saturday. He was born in Peach, Wash.
He worked as a truck driver for P.F. Huntley Co., now known as TWT Trucking, in Spokane.
Mr. Widener moved to Pasco 1-1/2 years ago.
His first wife, Lois, and his second wife, Virginia, preceded him in death.
Survivors include five sons, Dennis Widener of Spokane, Jerry Widener of Coeur d’Alene, Dwayne and Tom Widener, both of Kennewick, and Dan Harmon of Benton City, Wash.; two daughters, Sheryl Rhoads of Airway Heights and Retha Kincaid of Burbank, Wash.; two brothers, Chet Widener of Spokane and Ray Widener of San Diego; a sister, Jean of Odessa, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Margaret `Marie’ (Jones) Maloy Ione, Wash.
Family service will be held for Margaret “Marie” (Jones) Maloy, 75, at a later date. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Texarkana, Ark., Mrs. Maloy died Monday.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress and receptionist.
Mrs. Maloy moved to Ione from New Mexico 14 years ago.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Christian sorority in Alamogordo, N.M.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Maloy of Ione and Marlan Maloy of New Orleans; two daughters, Patricia Maloy of Ione and Sandra Maloy of New Orleans; two sisters, Susie Bonnelle of New Mexico and Betty Jo McBeathe of Texas; two brothers, Frank Jones of California and Richard Jones of New Mexico; and four grandchildren.
