Health District Considers Expanding Administrator’S Job, Valley Services
Hiring an administrator, expanding services at its Valley clinic and purchasing an $82,000 software license for the Spokane Regional Health District will be discussed at the board’s meeting Thursday.
The board will meet at 2 p.m. in Room 320 of the district’s building at 1101 W. College.
The board will consider a job description for an administrator to replace Fred Haslam, who abruptly left the district in early March. His departure never has been publicly explained. Haslam was division director for administrative services. Thursday’s meeting will include discussions on expanding the job description. That would mean Haslam’s replacement would oversee administrative services as well as day-to-day activities of the other division directors.
“The board has decided they wanted a chief operating officer, … a deputy to me,” said Dr. Kim Thorburn, health district director.
The board also will consider offering more services at the district’s clinic in the Spokane Valley. A proposal to expand there was put on hold last December.
The new proposal involves offering new services without spending additional money, Thorburn said.
The software license would involve computer programming to track payroll information for employees.
