Comment period on toxic metals extended Coeur d’Alene State officials on Wednesday announced a 45-day extension of a public comment period on a draft report summing up the risks toxic metals pose to people in the Coeur d’Alene River basin.

Comments originally due Sept. 1 are now due Oct. 16.

The document - called the draft Human Health Risk Assessment - is part of a sweeping study of mining pollution conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state.
