Academy Students Place In Speech Meet
Students from Classical Christian Academy in Post Falls recently won honors at a Logos speech meet in Moscow, Idaho.
First- through sixth-grade students from three area schools competed in categories of poetry, Bible memorization, fable and folklore, and patriotic.
Winners and their awards are:
Superior Blue Ribbons
Kaitlin Ellithorpe, fifth grade; and John Marlin and Forrest Matthews, both third grade.
Second Place Red Ribbons
Ashleigh Griffin, Elizabeth Stadley, Taylor Setty and Cole Florey, all third grade; and Augie Faller, Amber Johnson, Kyle Florey and Kaylee Nowoj, all fifth grade.
Carolyn Travis, fifth grade, received a white ribbon.
A total of 79 students competed in the meet.
Local University of Idaho seniors and post-baccalaureate students recently received UI Alumni Association awards for excellence. Students were selected by an eight-member committee of faculty, staff and alumni association members based on nominations, academic achievement and campus citizenship.
Recipients represent the top scholars on campus, with grade-point averages above 3.50. Coeur d’Alene: S.C. Danielle Quade, law; and Stephanie A. Hallock, biological systems engineering.
Harvard: Kevin P. Jones, chemical engineering.
Hope: Patrick McLaughlin, physical education.
Moscow: Jennifer H. Boisvert, wildlife resources; Ann E. Brainard, sport science; John V. Dzialoski, geography; Kenneth Faunce, history; Rebecca L. Fountain, sport science; Monica Lyons-McGurkin, counseling and school psychology; Suzanne J. Perker, law; Robyn Smith, counseling and school psychology; Matthew A. Pilcher, music-applied performance (piano) and music -history/ literature; Christina Pinola, international studies/foreign languages; Joshua Taff, child development; and Patricia Thomas, English literature.
