Freeman Ends Streak For Garfield-Palouse

Boys basketball

The area’s longest boys basketball winning streak ended Friday night in an elite matchup at Freeman.

Tanner Townsend scored 29 points, including two free throws with 6 seconds left for a four-point lead, as Freeman held off defending State B champion Garfield-Palouse 68-66 in a non-leaguer.

Gar-Pal won its final 12 games last season on the way to the state title. Freeman was 25-3 and placed fourth at the State 1A tournament.

Townsend finished 10 of 17 from the floor, with three 3-pointers.

Jeff Hyndman added nine rebounds and Jake DePell six assists for Freeman. Twins Adam and Aaron Elder combined for 47 points for the Vikings.
