Lucile Fedrick Spokane
Visitation for Lucile M. Fedrick, 87, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Pines Cemetery.
Born in Latah, Mrs. Fedrick died Wednesday. She was a lifetime Spokane County resident.
Mrs. Fedrick worked for the civil service for 37 years. She retired in 1973 as assistant manager of the personnel office at Fairchild Air Force Base. She also had worked as a secretary at Fort George Wright and at Galena Army Air Depot.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Harry; a daughter, Betty Canestro of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Gerald Hansen of Spokane and James Fedrick of Medical Lake; a brother, Ronald Pottratz of Latah; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Helen Smith Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Helen Marguerite Smith, 83, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the cemetery in Wilbur, Wash.
Mrs. Smith, who died Saturday, was born in Marlin, Wash.
She graduated from high school in Marlin, and in 1935 married Uel Mangis. They lived in Creston, Wash.
They later lived in Tonasket and Wilbur, Wash., before settling in 1951 in Coeur d’Alene, where she worked at The Pines Bakery and Redmond’s IGA.
Her husband died in 1961.
She married Edgar Smith in 1966.
She was a member of the Mormon Church, Dalton Gardens Ward, where she was involved in German extraction in genealogy, and she was active in gardening and crafts.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Alice Millspaugh of Moses Lake; a stepdaughter, Barbara Johnson of Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Myrtle Halsted of Tonasket; and six grandchildren.
Arlene Smathers Otis Orchards
Visitation for Arlene Smathers, 54, will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the New Hope Christian Fellowship in Otis Orchards.
Born in Wallace, Mrs. Smathers died Friday.
She was a 24-year Spokane resident.
Mrs. Smathers worked as a care giver for Kelly’s Assisted Living for the past 10 years.
She was a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly and the Golden Girl Club.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; two sons, Keith and Ronny Layton, both of Spokane; a daughter, Terresa Harter of Great Falls, Mont.; three stepdaughters, Jolayne Christner of Spokane, Mona Shogren of Mill Creek, Wash., and Janna Wogulis of Westminster, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.
Delores (Ziengenhagel) Utgaard Veradale
Memorial service for Delores V. (Ziengenhagel) Utgaard, 77, was Nov. 20 at Christ Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Utgaard, who was born in Lehr, N.D., died Nov. 17. She graduated from high school in Lehr.
In 1942 she married S.M. “Lee” Utgaard.
They moved to Spokane in 1945 and to Colfax, Wash., in 1952. In 1984 they moved to Conklin Park on Lake Coeur d’Alene. They moved to Veradale in 1993.
Mrs. Utgaard was a homemaker and a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Washington State Quilters Association.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Dennis Utgaard of Woodbury, Minn.; three daughters, Dianne Bond of Clarkston, Wash., Susan Bernard of Pasco and Cathy Utgaard of Placentia, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Thelma Hadley Spokane
Visitation for Thelma A. Hadley, 84, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the mausoleum at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Hadley, who was born in Govan, Wash., died Friday.
She was raised in Republic, Wash., and graduated from Republic High School.
In 1935 she married Harley Hadley. They moved to Spokane in 1944, and she was a homemaker.
Her husband died in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Hadley of Port Angeles, Wash., and Ronald Hadley of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Owen McDonald Spokane
Memorial service for Owen J. McDonald, 63, will be at 3 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. McDonald died Wednesday.
He graduated in 1955 from Lewis and Clark High School.
Mr. McDonald worked as a parts-counter salesperson at Bearing and Rim Co.
Survivors include a daughter, Colleen McDonald of Edmonds, Wash.; his mother, Geraldine McDonald of Spokane; four brothers, Will, Dennis, Steve and Tom McDonald, all of Spokane; and five sisters, Barbara Orchard of Spokane, Dolores Orlin of Auburn, Wash., Theresa Hoffman of Tacoma, Patricia Campbell of Renton, Wash., and Katy Clarke of Seattle.
Elvera (Marshall) Rogers Davenport, Wash.
Visitation for Elvera May (Marshall) Rogers, 76, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Reardan Cemetery.
A longtime Davenport resident, Mrs. Rogers died Wednesday. She was born in Antelope County, Neb.
She married Robert Rogers in 1957. Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Her husband died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Rogers of Norfolk, Neb.; a daughter, Sheila Thomas of Davenport; three sisters, Elaine Rogers of Spokane, Alta Jones of Neligh, Neb., and Dorthea Cali of Morton, Ill.; and a granddaughter.
Jack Lovitt Rocky Gorge, Wash.
Service for Jack Ralph Lovitt, 63, was Thursday at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. The Neptune Society of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
Born in Council, Idaho, Mr. Lovitt died Nov. 24.
His family moved to Spokane when he was a child.
He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1959.
In 1976 he married June McKinney.
Mr. Lovitt worked in the mobile home industry.
He moved to Mercer Island, Wash., in the early 1980s and worked in the sewer and maintenance department for the city. He retired in 1991 and returned to Spokane.
Mr. Lovitt and his wife moved to Rocky Gorge, near Newport, seven years ago.
Mr. Lovitt was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Lovitt of Spokane; two daughters, Wendy Lovitt of Seattle and Denise Pinkham of Kent, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Roberts of Ventura, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Ned Ingalls Spokane
Memorial service for Ned A. Ingalls, 94, will be held at a later date. The Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ingalls, who was born in Athol, S.D., died Nov. 20.
He married Marian Ward in 1933. They moved west in 1936 and lived in the Idaho towns of St. Maries and Harrison, and in Electric City and Republic, Wash., before moving to Spokane 45 years ago.
Mr. Ingalls worked on line construction across the region with the Rural Electrification Administration, public utilities and the Bureau of Reclamation at Grand Coulee Dam. He retired from Bonneville Power Administration in Spokane.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
His wife died in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Throne and Nancy Ingalls, and a son, Joe Ingalls, all of Spokane; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Jean Fitting Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Jean Ellen Fitting, 44, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
Ms. Fitting, who was born in El Paso, Texas, died Monday.
She lived in Los Angeles and worked as a screenwriter in the film industry. She moved to Coeur d’Alene five months ago.
She was a member of the Writers Network and was active in dance.
Survivors include her fiance, Brian Resnik of Long Beach, Calif.; her father, Charles Fitting of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Cheryl Fitting of Coeur d’Alene; and three brothers, Steven Fitting of Anchorage, Alaska, Bruce Fitting of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Keith Fitting of Greenacres.
Marvin Streibeck Northport, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Marvin Herman Streibeck, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Pure Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Northport. Graveside service will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Northport. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
A 53-year Northport resident, Mr. Streibeck died Thursday. He was born in Uniontown, Wash.
After graduating in 1940 from Colton (Wash.) High School, he worked on the family farm and drove farming equipment for other area farmers.
In 1947 he married Mary Jane LeCaire.
Mr. Streibeck worked at the Deep Creek Mine until it closed. He returned to the mine when it reopened. He also worked for Gibson Roberts at the dolomite quarry, and in 1952 he worked for VanStone Mine.
In 1959 he began working for Carney Pole Co., where he was a peeler operator for 20 years. He also worked as a custodian for the Northport School District.
Mr. Streibeck served on the school board in Northport for seven years, as a City Council member for 14 years and as a volunteer for the fire department for 15 years. He participated in the Northport Labor Day Parade for 21 years and was grand marshal this year.
His wife died in 1994.
Survivors include three sons, William and Kevin Streibeck, both of Spokane, and Tim Streibeck of Northport; three daughters, Hazel Hoeft of Spokane, Cheryl Lipp of Mead and Mary Sedberry of Rigby, Idaho; a brother, Wallen Streibich of Clarkston, Wash.; a sister, Marge Rell of Spokane; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Richard Duff Spokane
Vigil service for Richard M. Duff, 86, will be at 6 p.m. today at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Sidney, Iowa, Mr. Duff died Wednesday.
He was a 45-year Spokane resident.
Mr. Duff worked on a bridge gang for Union Pacific Railroad for five years. He began working for the railroad as a brakeman and a conductor in 1941 and retired in 1976.
He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, United Transportation Union Local No. 1505, National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees Unit No. 81 and the Union Pacific Old-Timers Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marion; a son, Richard Duff of Spokane; a daughter, Carol Everson of Winterhaven, Calif.; a sister, Julia Esterling of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Elsie Davenport Merced, Calif.
Private service for Elsie Laverne Davenport, 87, will be held at a later date. Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Atwater, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
A longtime former Spokane resident, Mrs. Davenport died Nov. 22. She was born in Washington.
She worked as the media director for Coons, Shotwell and Adams Advertising in Spokane.
In 1998 she moved to Merced and was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Merced.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Edward; a son, Roy Davenport, and a daughter, Sandy Davenport, both of Merced; two brothers, Alvin and Jack Goetz; two sisters, Irene Schell and Alma Riley, all of Washington; and three grandchildren.

Donald Williams Columbia, Mo.
Service for Donald Reed Williams, 77, was Saturday at the Parker Funeral Home in Missouri. Private burial will follow. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Williams, who was born in Grand Junction, Iowa, died Nov. 27.
He served as a lieutenant in the Air Force and began a printing career with the Perry Daily Chief in Perry, Mo. He moved to the Northwest and worked for the Coeur d’Alene Press and for The Spokesman-Review from 1964 to 1986 as a printer in the composing room.
Mr. Williams served as the director of the Coeur d’Alene Elks Dance Band for many years and also provided musical instruments for local needy children.
He moved to Columbia in 1989.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maurietta; and a sister, Mary Honomichl of Sun City West, Ariz.
Walter `Wally’ Lautenschlager St. John, Wash.
Graveside service for Walter “Wally” Lautenschlager, 87, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Endicott (Wash.) Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Endicott, Mr. Lautenschlager died Friday.
He grew up near St. John and helped his father on the family farm. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a crew chief and trainer for a bombing wing. He was discharged from the military in 1945 and returned to St. John.
Mr. Lautenschlager worked as a carpenter in the construction industry. He also worked in grain elevators.
He moved to Spokane and worked for Garceau Steel and retired in 1975.
In 1955 he married Dorothy Scharffer. They lived in Spokane until moving to St. John in 1990.
Mr. Lautenschlager was a member of the Colfax Eagles Lodge and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John and Tim Lautenschlager, and a daughter, Nancy Wade, all of Spokane; two sisters, Phoebe DePaw of Spokane and Mary Okrzesa of Spangle; and five grandchildren.
Carol Madison Spokane
Memorial service for Carol R. Madison, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Riverview Terrace. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Madison, who was born in LaCrosse, Wash., died Friday.
She graduated in 1942 from LaCrosse High School. Iin 1948 she married Lloyd Madison.
Mrs. Madison was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kirk Madison of Cheney; a daughter, Robin Yewcic of Fairchild Air Force Base; two sisters, Beverly Dahmen of Spokane and Bernice Lienweber of Colfax, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
Ronald Hagerman Deer Park
Service for Ronald Charles Hagerman, 66, was Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park. Burial followed at the Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park.
Mr. Hagerman, who was born in Dixon, Ill., died Wednesday.
He served in the Navy and the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
In 1957 he moved to Riverside, Calif., and worked as a mail carrier for the Postal Service for 32 years. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Hagerman married Karen in 1990, and they then moved to Deer Park.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dixon.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Hagerman of Sheridan, Wyo.; a daughter, Cynthia McCulloh of Dillon, Mont.; a stepdaughter, Jessica Dougherty of Deer Park; and his former wife, Carol Cochran of Riverside, Calif.
Roland McCannon Sandpoint
Memorial service for Roland Bradley McCAnnon, 93, will be held at a later date in Spokane. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McCannon, who was born in McHenry County, Ill., died Wednesday.
He grew up in Woodstock, Ill., and attended Augustana College in Illinois.
He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago.
He worked as a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools in Illinois.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He returned to Illinois and became the manager of a library service. He retired in 1969 and moved to Ashland, Ore.
He moved to the Sandpoint area in 1988 and was a member of the Sandpoint West Athletic Club, where he was named Member of the Month at age 86.
His wife, Lorena, preceded him in death.
Survivors inlcude a son, David McCannon of Spokane; a daughter, Phyllis Harris of East Hope, Idaho; a brother, Loren McCannon of San Diego; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Robert Fuher Spokane
Memorial service for Robert W. Fuher, 43, will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 16 at Foothills Community Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Fuher, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Nov. 27.
He worked as a cement finisher in the construction industry.
Mr. Fuher is survived by two sisters, Debbie Stussi of Spokane and Dalene Gutowski of Bonner, Mont.; and his grandparents, Carl and Pauline Leaf of Spokane.
