Two More Groups Added To Billboard Awards Show

Country crossover group Dixie Chicks and Destiny’s Child have been added to the list of performers for tonight’s 11th annual Billboard Music Awards.

‘N Sync, Faith Hill, Creed, Ricky Martin, Sisqo, Mystikal and 3 Doors Down are also set to play during the ceremony, which will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Making special appearances during the show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will be matchbox twenty frontman Rob Thomas, Dido, Brian McKnight, Patrick Fugit and Tony Hawk.

The Billboard Music Awards honor the year’s No. 1 artists and songs according to record sales and radio airplay. Awards will be handed out in more than 30 categories.

The finalists for artist of the year are Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, ‘N Sync and Santana.

Marc Anthony, Eminem, Joe and Sisqo are in the running for the male artist of the year category, and female artist of the year finalists are Aguilera, Hill, Pink and Britney Spears.

Up for album of the year are ‘N Sync for “No Strings Attached,” Santana for “Supernatural,” Eminem for `The Marshall Mathers LP” and Spears for “Oops! … I Did It Again.”
