Defending champion: Central Valley (league, district, regional; fourth place at state). Lakeside, a 2A school that competes in the GSL, placed second at the 3A/2A regional.

Returning all-leaguers: Amber Baines, sr., North Central; Heather Malott, soph., Ferris; Amy Snyder, jr., CV; Alisa Brandle, sr., U-Hi… . Katie Dinsmore, jr., Lakeside, placed second in the State 3A/2A all-around.

Biggest loss: All-leaguer April Mims, fifth place all-around at the state meet for CV, didn’t turn out because of club gymnastics commitments.

New coaches: Laurie Chadwick, Lakeside; Amy Allen, NC; Amber Hulbert, U-Hi… . Former Lakeside coach Alecia Sing is on maternity leave… . Hulbert replaces her former coach, Stacey Heaton, who won seven league titles and five regional titles.

New standings format: Each team will compete once, instead of twice, against every other team.

Postseason schedule: District - Feb. 3 at NC; Regional - Feb. 10 at Big Nine site; State - Feb. 18-19 at Tacoma Dome.
