Elaine (Christensen) Dishman Spokane

Memorial service for Elaine A. (Christensen) Dishman, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rockwood Manor. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dishman, who was born in Chicago, died Dec. 5.

Her family moved west in 1923 and settled in Los Angeles.

She married Jack Dishman in 1937. They moved to Spokane in 1951 and joined the family business, Dishman Building and Realty Co.

Mrs. Dishman was active in the Compass Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, the Daughters of the Nile, the Ladies Oriental Shrine, the Valley Ladies of Kiwanis and the Friendship Force. She served as director of the board of March of Dimes.

She was a member of the Manito and Hayden Lake (Idaho) country clubs.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Dishman, and a sister, Alice Elinoff, both of San Diego.

Hazel Clements Chattaroy

Service for Hazel Lorena Clements, 94, will be at noon today at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Chattaroy Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Clements, who was born in Omaha, Neb., died Friday.

She moved to Chattaroy in 1932 and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Fredrick, died in 1978.

Survivors include three sons, Floyd Clements of Spokane, Loren Clements of Chattaroy and George Clements of Buckley, Wash.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Dorothy King Davenport, Wash.

Visitation for Dorothy L. King, 81, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Odessa (Wash.) Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Asotin, Wash., Mrs. King died Thursday.

She was a 45-year Davenport resident and a homemaker.

Her husband, Arnold, died in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Doug King of Spokane and Gary King of Davenport; a daughter, Sandy Lillengreen of Edwall, Wash.; two brothers, Roy Dodd of Washougal, Wash., and Sid Dodd of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Mary Delashmutt of Vancouver, Wash., and Jayne Wood of Langley, British Columbia; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lloyd Beckley Medical Lake

Memorial service for Lloyd G. Beckley, 74, is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home.

A 53-year Medical Lake resident, Mr. Beckley died Saturday. He was born in Pilot Rock, Ore.

He graduated from Waitsburg (Wash.) High School in 1944 and then served in the Navy for four years.

In 1948 he married Joyce Tuttle.

Mr. Beckley worked as an accountant for local automotive dealerships.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel Beckley of Spokane; four daughters, Lori Moore and Suzanne Turnidge, both of Spokane, and Peggy Pettis and Melissa Mabe, both of Cheney; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Harold Martz Republic, Wash.

Service for Harold A. Martz, 63, was Saturday at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.

A longtime Republic resident, Mr. Martz died Wednesday. He was born in Coeur d’Alene.

He graduated from West Valley High School.

In 1956 he married Donna Weist.

Mr. Martz worked for Rosauers. For the past 10 years he had owned and operated Big Gib Quality Foods in Republic.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Harold Martz of Spokane; two daughters, Cheri Williams of Republic and Cindy Lewis of Missoula; his father, William Martz of Spokane; two sisters, Deatra Parr of Spokane and Ida Stortoen of Tracy, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frank Bensel Spokane

Memorial service for Frank F. Bensel, 86, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Unity Church of Truth. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 40-year Spokane resident, Mr. Bensel died Saturday. He was born in Valleyford, Wash.

He graduated from Fort Belvoir (Va.) Military Engineering Academy and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Washington College of Education.

Mr. Bensel taught ROTC at the University of Alaska before World War II.

He was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers and served in the South Pacific and the Philippines during the war. He was stationed in Europe and served as a project engineer, rebuilding the European Air Depot during the Berlin Airlift. He was a chief engineer of NATO’s southern command in Naples, Italy, during the Cold War. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1961 and moved to Spokane.

Mr. Bensel later worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at Grand Coulee Dam for five years.

Survivors include his wife, Laura; two daughters, Judy Jacobsen and Valerie Noll; a son, David Bensel; two sisters, Louise Farrow and Nyra Spender; two brothers, Rudy and Paul Bensel; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the American Cancer Society.

Francis Flood Spokane

Committal service for Francis Joseph Flood, 84, was Saturday at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Flood, who was born in Spokane, died Dec. 2.

He graduated from Rogers High School and worked as a lineman for Pacific Northwest Bell.

During World War II he served in the Marine Corps on the USS North Hampton. He graduated from Officer Candidate School and was airborne certified.

In 1949 he moved to Provo, Utah, and worked as an electrician for the Atomic Energy Commission. He was later transferred to Riverside, Calif.

Mr. Flood later worked for the Pacific Architects and Engineers. He was assigned to Vietnam from 1966 to 1969.

He resided in Riverside and worked as an electrician until returning to Spokane in 1984.

Survivors include five sons, Michael, John and Terry Flood, all of Arizona, and James and Jack Flood, both of California; two daughters, Charlotte Sanders and Madeline Flood, both of Arizona; a sister, Mary Hanes of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bernice (Potts) Lanter Spokane

No service will be held for Bernice B. (Potts) Lanter, 76, at her request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Lanter died Friday.

In 1942 she married Alfred Lanter.

She worked in sales in the retail industry.

Her husband died in 1983.

Survivors include a son, William Lanter of Orange, Texas; two daughters, Susan LaRue of Spokane and Judy Palmer of Issaquah, Wash.; a sister, Eleanor Deal of Spokane; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Clark Bushnell Deer Park

Service for Clark Fred Bushnell, a retired Air Force staff sergeant, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in the Wildwoods in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Williams Valley Cemetery. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Wauconda, Wash., Mr. Bushnell died Thursday. He was 78.

He served in the Army during World War II and served in the European Theater in artillery. In 1946 he joined the Air Force. He was stationed in England, Japan and Greenland. He was a missile communications technician at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. He also was stationed at Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake and at Fairchild Air Force Base. He retired in 1964 to the Williams Valley area of Deer Park.

He later delivered newspapers for the Spokane Daily Chronicle and the Deer Park Tribune. He was a member of the 81st Fighter Wing Association.

Mr. Bushnell is survived by numerous cousins.

Phyllis Pynn Spokane

Service for Phyllis I. Pynn, 70, will be at 11 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Colfax, Wash., Mrs. Pynn died Thursday.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Interlake Hospital in Medical Lake.

Mrs. Pynn was a 50-year Spokane resident and a member of the Ivanhoe Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, George; three daughters, Marilyn Krebaum of Spokane, Gertrude Flett of Fruitland, Wash., and Cheri Allen of Ollala, Wash.; three stepsons, Doug Pynn of Maple Valley, Wash., Denny Pynn of Everett and Greg Pynn of Roseville, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Debbie Veit of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Janice Glidden of Spokane; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ronald Brouse Pullman

Service for Ronald L. Brouse, 63, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. Burial will follow at the Colfax Cemetery.

Mr. Brouse, who was born in Worley, Idaho, died Wednesday.

He grew up on the family farm near Worley. He later drove semi-trucks for Everett Hay and Sons in Tekoa, Wash. He also had worked for a lumber mill in Plummer, Idaho.

In 1961 he moved to Pullman. He married Eleanor Willoughby in 1962.

He worked as a truck driver and heavy-equipment operator for the Whitman County Road Department. He also had worked for Standard Lumber Co. in Pullman.

Mr. Brouse was a member of the Pullman Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, Jerry and Butch Linehan, both of Pullman, and Terry Linehan of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Rhea Wayment of Portland and Sheryl Burbank of Billings, Mont.; a sister, Marilyn Taylor of St. Maries; a brother, Lyle Brouse of Moscow, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

Marie Glubrecht Spokane

Memorial service for Marie Josephine Glubrecht, 86, is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 66-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Glubrecht died Thursday.

She was born in Cottonwood, Idaho, and graduated from St. Gertrude’s Convent School there.

Mrs. Glubrecht came to Spokane as a nanny. She married Roy Glubrecht in 1934.

She worked in housekeeping at Gonzaga University and retired in 1975. She also was a homemaker.

Mrs. Glubrecht was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Her husband died in 1993.

Survivors include four sons, John and David Glubrecht, both of Spokane, Tom Glubrecht of Seattle and Daniel Glubrecht of Portland; three daughters, Barbara Smeltzer of Spokane, Judith Frank of Yakima and Sherri Holmgren of Portland; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Minnie (Riesau) Weller Carson City, Nev.

No service will be held for Minnie Anna (Riesau) Caspersen Hansen Weller, 91, at her request. Private inurnment will be held at Mountain Cemetery in Sonoma, Calif. Duggan’s Mission Chapel in Sonoma is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spangle, Mrs. Weller died Nov. 21.

She graduated in 1928 from North Central High School.

Mrs. Weller worked as a sales clerk for The Crescent department store. She also was a homemaker.

In 1976 she married Byron Weller and moved to Sonoma. They moved to Carson City last year.

Mrs. Weller was a member of the Pocahontas and Rebekah lodges.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Marjorie McPhillips of McKee City N.J.; a son, Stan Caspersen of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Leona Parsons of Spokane and Catherine Zimmerman of Temecula, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Francis Hannibal Spokane

Private graveside service will be held for Francis O. Hannibal at a later date. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hannibal, who was born in Hammond, Ind., died Thursday. He was 80.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Hannibal and his wife, Zina, moved to Spokane in 1948.

He worked as a salesman in the life insurance industry for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years; a son, Mark Hannibal, and a daughter, Kristin Humphreys, both of Elk Grove, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Della Nieman Spokane

Visitation for Della L. Nieman, 96, will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Nieman, who was born in Roy, Mo., died Thursday.

She was a 60-year Spokane resident and worked as a secretary for a meat-packing company.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Nieman is survived by a nephew, Billy Johnston of Raymore, Mo.

Fawn Devereaux Spokane

Service for Fawn Angel Blossum Devereaux, 19, was Friday at the Jesuit Chapel.

Miss Devereaux, who was born in Seattle, died Dec. 4 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Interstate 90 west of Ritzville, Wash.

She was a 15-year Spokane resident.

Miss Devereaux worked as a certified nurse’s assistant at Manor Care.

Survivors include her companion, Jeremy Albright; a daughter, Schaidaa Devereaux-Albright; her parents, Francis and Della Devereaux; four brothers, Puka, Couger, Skye and Coral Devereaux; and two sisters, Jasmine and Tangina Devereaux.

Evelyn Kerfoot Spokane

Funeral Mass for Evelyn Lucille Kerfoot, 82, was Monday at Mount St. Michael’s Church. Burial was at the Holy Rosary Cemetery at Mount St. Michael’s.

Mrs. Kerfoot, who died Saturday, was born in Rhame, N.D. Her family moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1921. She graduated from Fremont (Calif.) High School.

In 1941 she married Chester Kerfoot.

She was a 20-year Spokane resident and was a homemaker and member of Mount St. Michael’s.

Her husband died in 1999.

Survivors include three sons, Louis Kerfoot of Spokane, Michael Kerfoot of Post Falls and Joseph Kerfoot of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Judith Chernoff of Torrance, Calif., and Karen Johnston of Valley Center, Calif.; three brothers, Earl Shaw of San Diego, Richard Shaw of Torrance and Paul Shaw of Banning, Calif.; a sister, Maurine Hamil of Meadow Vista, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.
