Get A Hunch/Bet A Bunch

Jack Kaenel won four races Monday night despite an aching back.

What will he do tonight if he’s feeling better?

Respect everything Cowboy Jack climbs on including Wapato Wind in the feature, the two-mile Inland Empire Marathon.

After a spirited duel with eventual winner Sunshine Scholar in last week’s Playfair Mile, Wapato Wind comes in sharp for trainer Sam Tilden.

The only question is, can he go six turns? A two-miler in the mud will tax the nine horses entered in the $5,000 stakes event.

The one who might be able to run all night is Sentosa. Stamina shouldn’t be a problem for Gene Starlin’s 9-year-old. And unlike Wapato Wind, you might get him at a price.

Tonight’s 10-race card starts 45 minutes earlier than usual, at 4:05.

The meet closes Sunday night.

Tonight’s stabs.

FIRST: $2 daily double WINMEA BUNDLE, IMA MOC TWO, ALANDEM and TACTICIAN in the first with CRYSTAL KATE, ALLONYM and GOAL MAKER in the second.

SECOND: $1 pick 3: ALLONYM, CRYSTAL KATE and BENEVOLENT QUEEN with ALL in the third with CORAGEOUS ANNIE, LET R BE and WE BE TRYING in the fourth.

FOURTH: $20 across on CORAGEOUS ANNIE.

SEVENTH: $5 across on MIS JEAN LAFITTE. $10 exacta box that one with TICKER.

EIGHTH: $10 trifecta wheel CJ’S PLAYGIRL with AUNT JEWELL and CATHEDRAL MISS for second with ALL for third.

Bottom line: Down $1,412.70 for the meeting.
