Letters To The Editor
Highway gurus strike again
Looks like our illustrious highway engineers have done it again.
I’m referring to the beautiful and much-needed interchange at Evergreen Road on Interstate 90 here in the Valley.
Pines Road is Exit 289. The new Evergreen Road exit, which is 290 miles from the start of I-90 in Seattle, has been given the designation 291A. And the Sullivan Road exit has now become 291B, necessitating a change of all those Exit 291 signs at, I’m sure, considerable expense.
Good show, oh great engineering gurus.
Who said we didn’t need Initiative 695 to make our money managers take note? Loren L. Seifert Spokane
How about Appleway as a two-way road?
OK, so everybody is sick of discussing the Sprague Avenue disaster.
After the last time I wrote in, I received an anonymous postcard. I quote one line, “If you’re not qualified to drive with other cars around and you can’t figure out traffic lights, maybe you should stay out in Greenacres.”
Maybe it’s not just me.
The letter written by Jeff Danner (Dec. 7 Valley Voice) hailed the decision to eliminate the HOV lane, but courteously asked if the existing lines could be ground off instead of just painted over.
It seems that Mr. Danner has a hard time understanding this mess, as do many others.
Let’s get real here. This roadway improvement is a disaster.
Last week as I stopped at a traffic light at Sprague and Mullan, I watched in horror as another vehicle came right at me. The driver was confused and so was I - again.
After visiting a business on the south side of Sprague, I wanted to go east. But when I came to Mullan, I couldn’t make a left to go south so I could go east because Mullan Argonne only goes north.
With another vehicle coming toward me, I opted to go north until I reached Interstate 90, where I was able to return to my safe haven in Greenacres.
The postcard I received stated that the sender was sick of bumper-to-bumper traffic on eastbound Sprague.
Does anyone else see that making Appleway a two-way “mini bypass” would have solved the congestion? Cindy Scinto Greenacres
