Wampum Grants Applications Available

Grant applications are available to cultural and arts organizations in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area interested in receiving funding from WAMPUM for the 2001 fiscal year.

WAMPUM is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial support for the arts. In its 31 years, WAMPUM has distributed more than $3 million to more than 40 cultural and arts organizations in Spokane and North Idaho.

It raises money through an annual auction as well as corporate and individual donations. The 2001 WAMPUM Auction and Gala Party, which are open to the public, will be held at the Ag Trade Center on April 28.

Grant applications may be obtained at the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce; the Downtown Spokane Public Library; the Spokane County Valley Library; the Spokane Arts Commission at City Hall; the WAMPUM office at 301 W. Mission, Suite 24; or by calling 328-9205.

Application deadline is Jan. 12.

Lake City holds workshop

The Lake City Playhouse announces the return of Sleepy Hollow Children’s Theatre in January. The after-school workshop will be Jan. 8-21, with performances Jan. 19, 20 and 21. The production for this workshop will be “Oz Forever!” Class size is limited and registration is required.

Workshop tuition is $165 per student, and performance tickets will be $6. The workshop is open to students age 7-18. For more information, call (208) 667-1323.
