Along With Winter, Flu Season’S Here
The flu season officially has arrived in Washington, the state Department of Health reported.
Two cases of the flu have been identified in Spokane County.
The announcement comes just as the Spokane Regional Health District has made flu vaccines available to the general public.
The district had restricted vaccinations to health care workers and those at a high risk of developing complications from the flu.
Vaccination delays occurred nationwide because manufacturers had difficulty growing a flu strain included in this year’s vaccine, and distribution has been sporadic.
Despite the lateness, department officials said it’s not too late to benefit from the vaccine because the flu season in Washington peaks in February.
Information on vaccinations at the health district is available at 324-1643.
