Ryan Wade Earns Engineering Scholarship

Ryan Wade, a student at Gonzaga University, has received a $1,500 John and Elsa Gracik Scholarship for outstanding achievement in the field of mechanical engineering.

Requirements for the scholarship include ASME student membership in good standing at the time of application, superior academic performance and demonstrated financial need. He is the son of Roger and Renee Wade, Spokane.

Bryan Parks, a 2000 Gonzaga University graduate, won the best paper award during the 2000 Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers/Western Conference Student Paper Competition Sept. 20-21 in Anaheim, Calif. Representing the IEEE’s Region 6, he was awarded a $550 cash prize.

Parks, an electrical engineering graduate, is working for Agilent Technologies. He presented his technical paper titled “Design of a Standard Phase Noise Test Source,” which he co-authored with Dan Ransom, another recent GU electrical engineering graduate.

The following Washington State University students were awarded scholarships for the 2000-2001 school year:

Brian M. Haines, Spokane, received a $500 Beverly Casebier Memorial Scholarship. He is the son of Terrence and Beverlee Haines, Spokane.

Jennifer Kiblen, Spokane, received a $500 Claire Siler Smith Scholarship. She is an accounting major and the daughter of Mike and Carmie Kiblen, Spokane.

Jon R. MacKay, Spokane, received a $500 Beverly Casebier Memorial Scholarship. He is a graduate of Liberty High School and the son of Bob and Roberta MacKay.

Holly A. Robinette, Spokane, received a $1,700 Alumni Leadership Scholarship. She is a 2000 graduate of Shadle Park High school and the daughter of Tom and Karen Robinette.

Robyn Whitman, Sprague, Wash., received a $1,000 Sabey Corporation Scholarship. She is a real estate major and is the daughter of Neil and Sandy Telecky, Ritzville, Wash.

Erik D. Halvorson, Spokane, received a $500 W.W. Livingston scholarship from Montana State University.

Halvorson is a freshman studying computer engineering.

Air National Guard Airman Jason L. Garl graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Garl is the son of Stephen and Leslie Garl, Pullman, and is a 1996 graduate of Pullman Christian School.

Catherine “Katy” Niggemeyer and Aaron Vawter, students at Gonzaga University and residents of Spokane, have been awarded $4,000 scholarships from the Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation of Modesto, Calif.

Niggemeyer is a senior general studies major concentrating on elementary education.

Vawter is a biology major with a minor in religious studies.
