WSU Lineman Leaves Program

Offensive lineman Jason Hughes has left Washington State University for personal reasons.

The 6-foot-6, 289-pound rising sophomore was frequently used on the line last year. Hughes was again expected to be a significant contributor on this year’s line. It is unclear whether the former Richland High standout will transfer, but he has left the state.

Cougars quarterback Jason Gesser underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee recently.

Gesser, a sophomore, injured the knee in the last game of the season against Hawaii and had been wearing a brace. The knee was still giving Gesser problems so he underwent the surgery as a precautionary measure.

Doctors did not find any significant damage. Gesser is already walking and will be ready for spring ball.
