Bernadette Botch Given Papal Medal
Sister Bernadette Botch of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Spokane was recently awarded a papal medal.
The medal, called “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” or “For the Church and the Pontiff,” is rarely awarded.
The medal was requested by Bishop William Skylstad, who wrote the Vatican last summer and cited Botch’s many years of service in Montana and Washington.
Botch serves as the bishop’s secretary for diocesan business affairs.
