Colfax Wins League Title
Girls basketball
Becky Vantine scored 21 points Saturday night to help Colfax wrap up the Northeast A League title with a 59-47 win at Freeman.
Colfax took control by starting a 13-2 run midway through the second quarter.
Colfax is the No. 1 seed to the District 7 1A tournament, which begins Friday at Mead. The Bulldogs open against the No. 4. Freeman, the No. 2 seed, opens against the No. 3.

Courtney Fuchs scored 14 in the second half, including two free throws for the lead with 20 seconds left, and the Lancers defeated the visiting Bulldogs to tie for third place. Fuchs also had nine rebounds.
The teams will play a tiebreaker on Tuesday to determine district seeding.

Christa Brossman surpassed 1,600 career points and combined with Debbie Curry for 18 rebounds as the Greyhounds defeated the visiting Grizzlies to move into first place alone.
Brossman also limited Rose Sauer (22.5 ppg) to two field goals. Newport hit 16 of 19 from the line.
