Two men allegedly smashed a $2,000 clay planter in front of the Lusso Hotel at 808 W. Sprague at about 2 a.m. Saturday, police said.

An employee of the Lusso ran from the lobby and saw two men running from the area. He flagged a passing police car, and officers took the two men into custody.

They had been walking with three other people, all of whom denied seeing the planter broken, police said.

After talking to witnesses, police arrested and booked Joshua B. Kinder, 24, on charges of malicious mischief.

Michael E. Crosby, 21, was cited with making a false statement to police.
