Fishing

An angler fishing through ice on Fort Peck Reservoir in northeastern Montana pulled out a 16.63-pound state record walleye last month.

“I could fish the rest of my life and not catch another one like that,” said Dan Spence of Bozeman.

The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks in Helena said Spence’s fish was the fourth state record walleye to come out of Fort Peck since 1995. They weighed 15.63, 16.29 and 16.38 pounds.

Spence said he was using a live 6-inch minnow on the Crooked Creek arm of the reservoir.
