Clemons To Make Run For County Commission
(From For the Record, February 12, 2000): Error in story: An article in the Feb. 11 edition of the Idaho Spokesman-Review incorrectly reported the district served by Commissioner Bud Mueller. Mueller represents Bonner County’s southern district. Repuyblican commission candidate Jerry Clemons is running in the eastern district, which is now represented by Dale Van Stone.
Jerry Clemons, a commercial account manager at Rokstad Ford, announced Thursday his candidacy for Bonner County commissioner.
Clemons will take on incumbent Bud Mueller in the Republican primary for the eastern district commissioner’s seat. Mueller announced his intention to run for re-election at a recent meeting of the Republican central committee.
Clemons said he’s running for office to take partisan politics out of county government and make good business decisions regarding spending taxpayer money. He describes himself as fiscally conservative, but socially compassionate.
His top priorities are to improve roads and bridges, change the racist image of Bonner County, encourage environmentally friendly businesses to move to the county, support higher education and clean up zoning violation problems.
Clemons, a licensed real estate broker, has a degree in business administration and training in real estate management. He and his wife, Patti, are active in the community and both serve on the Kinderhaven board of directors. Clemons also sits on the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce board, is president of the Chamber Ambassadors and sits on the Timber Information Council.
The primary election is May 23.
